What Flight Sims are you Running?

Featured Replies

I fly a lot of my time online, and I went over to the Pilot Edge site to check out my 50 most recent logged flights.  If you haven't heard of Pilot Edge I seriously suggest you check it out - they have a decent trial period: http://www.pilotedge.net/

P3D 2.5 - 48% of my last 50 flights on PE were flown in P3D2.  Fifty flights logged since May 2015.  I do fly some offline but I think I split all three of my sims for that time.

Oddly enough, FSX boxed and XP10 shared 26% each of my flights on PE as well.

I don't fly any other sims at the moment.  Anyway those numbers bring some conclusions for me.  I like to fly the latest n greatest.  I like shiny new tech (P3D and XP).  I'm spending too much on addons (buying for XP and FSX/P3D can be taxiing on the wallet).  Heck even P3D purchases are getting a bit outrageous (well the pricing schemes imo).  XP10 has made a large impression on me because it equals my time spent in FSX.  But I still use FSX because it's tried and true - and has some of my favorite addons like the Realair Legacy, Flight1 King Air, Baytower RV7.  Finally I must be a typical customer, always unsettled about things because I want more more more!

I'm curious what percentage of time others spend on their sims?

100% P3D for me.  FSX is gone from my hard drive and XP10 is gathering dust (no serious weather, no XP10 flying for me).  I don't have enough time to maintain all three.

Sounds like you need to buy a real PA24 Rhys

Vu - I totally understand where you're coming from about the Wx comment...  I use the NOAA plugin and it helps but it's nowhere near the fidelity of OPUS/ASN.

100% FSX SE. I'd love try PilotEdge, but the language barrier is huge

Cheers :)

Ryan, I am about to build a new system and thus will be purchasing a good number of add-ons for the second time. I have held off of any "approaches" to X-Plane, SE, or P3D just because of that. Did not feel the need to transition to any of those, accompanied by a second round of purchases, only to have to make a third cycle of purchases of some of them due to a new system build and different FS.

My system specs are modest at the best by today's standards. However running FSX, 80% of USA with MegaScenery Earth states and Hi-res cities, and logging most of my hours in the TDv2, Carenado C90, MilViz B55, and a freeware HondaJet, and more limited hours in the Carenado C337 and C208 I am running nicely at 30 FPS except in NYC, Chicago, and So California, where I have airports from Imagine, FS Dream Team, and Aerosoft. Augment that with avionics from RXP and Flight1.

I am holding off my new system waiting for either a failure of my current system, or a shake out of the FS suitors for the future. I spent way too much over the past 25 years as a first adopter. I learned from that!  Did some financial recalc today and I can build a killer system now and attribute virtually all of the outlay to my patience.

Why do you have to rebuy addons?  You shouldn't need to do that.  Just use your backup copies of stuff.

So how many of my add ons that I currently have licensed for FSX can I successfully install and use with either SE or P3D? MegaScenery I believe yes.  What else? If it is significantly more than I currently understand then some tutoring is in order.

Oh... I gotcha now..  Most of those won't work... some will with EMT.  If you're one of those super technical EULA people, then most won't work I guess  :Hmmmph:

The ones I really enjoy in FSX like F1 King air, NGX, RA Duke piston/Legacy, Baytower RV7 don't work so well in P3D.  I think the RA stuff does and BT does with work.  The others are made to not work though.

Sorry I got OT on my own thread!  =@

I run FSX , FSX-SE , Fs2004 ,P3D 2.5 , X-plane 10 , AeroFly. I use P3d 2.5 mostly with the Carenado 182.

Do not despair! Its all really very relevant! I may not be super technical about EULA, but I don't want to miss out on any of those great Ron Attwood repaints! LOL!

Can you even say that?  I thought under the NDA you guys can't even mention that you are.

For me, the more appropriate question should probably be: Which flight simulators aren't I running!!

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Fs9 100℅

FSX but despite it running as smooth, it looks terrible. I have the orbx nw region demo which would have to be one of the most uninspiring scenery I've ever seen.

And nothing in P3d looks any better then FSX. Looks more cartoony. Even arcade like. Not supprised considering LM went down the entertainment avenue.

Well, your obviously in the minority as there are a lot more people collectively using either version of FSX or P3D than there are FS9 users. If we all thought FSX or P3D looked like a cartoon, we'd all be back to FS9 in a heartbeat.

Your constant disparaging comments about other sims and products has really become sickening in my opinion.

In fact when I saw in another thread that you used an alternate user name to bash a developer, your opinions have lost all credibility for me, not that I took any stock in what you ever said anyway because it was always in a manner that anything other than FS9 was a piece of junk or a cartoon.

I'm happy you love FS9.
