Why don't the default aircraft have glide slopes?

Featured Replies

I need an AC with a GS in Nav1.   Almost no default AC have glide slopes and none in Nav 1 spot, why?  I remember FSX with this feature.

The mooney has it

King air has it

In Prepar3D, the King Air is a glass cockpit (not G1000).  The default Mooney (non G1000) doesn't have a GS, only a HSI and VOR.

All the default a/c except the Cub are IFR capable and will display the glideslope on the required instrument when activated. There is no "glideslope gauge" in any aircraft.

If you want a visual reference , you could always use Menu>Vehicles>Visual Flight Path>enable visual flight path......

Why is there no glideslope in any of the default aircraft?  I dont understand that.

There is in almost all of them. Do you have the ILS tuned up?

This.

So your question does not really make sense actually.

In Prepar3D, the King Air is a glass cockpit (not G1000). The default Mooney (non G1000) doesn't have a GS, only a HSI and VOR.

In the Mooney, the glideslope pointers appear in the sides of the HSI when the VOR receiver is tuned to an ILS. That is how a real HSI works.

As others have pointed out, ALL of the IFR capable aircraft in P3D are equipped with glideslope. Perhaps you are looking for an older-style King KI-209 style indicator - the kind that has a vertical and horizontal needle that cross in the center, like you find in the default 172 in FSX. That kind of indicator is an older technology solution. The aircraft in P3D are equipped with more modern instruments generally speaking, like HSI or full glass cockpits.

The only possible exception might be a WWII vintage aircraft like the P38 I've never tried that model yet - but other than that, the P3D aircraft definitely DO have glideslope, except the very basic Piper Cub.

Let me rephrase the question... Why is there no aircraft with a VOR1 indicator with glideslope?

And my answer would be... If the aircraft has an HSI in the panel, it typically does not also have a VOR1 indicator..

As I reported and illustrated at flightsim.com, the default Maule does have glideslope needles on the HSI. You simply have to ensure that the runway in service has both localizer and glideslope available of course. I chose KGYY for this test since I know that both criteria are met there:

And if you set:

pixel_size=1024,1024

in the two Vcockpit sections, you would be able to see them more clearly..

I just put a big, thick magnifying glass over the whole monitor.

Uhhhh, HSI has a glideslope on it.  Are you saying you're looking for planes with the old school NAV1 indicator only?

And lol about the king air - I hadn't even looked at it.

In any case, for you, I'd check out the A2A Skylane.... it has a traditional NAV1 indicator (the two white bars that move when you're on the loc and gs)...
