October 30, 201510 yr I thought spinning clouds were fixed in 2.5 or so? im getting spinning clouds as i fly by them in v3. I am using REX soft clouds and Rex Essential + Overdrive. (could this be why i am getting the spinning clouds?) Can someone confirm with default v3 clouds if they spin while you pass them in spot view? October 30, 201510 yr Moderator If they do, I do NOT see them. IIRC I was in spot view once and using the hat switch to pan around the a/c and I was able to see them move that way. But, since I don't fly in that view, I don't really care. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
October 30, 201510 yr Commercial Member I don't see them at all. I have been looking for them but they do not appear. I must be doing something wrong. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
October 30, 201510 yr They have to spin. They are 2D sprites and have to face the aircraft at all times otherwise their form would be lost as you flew past them. If they did not spin (angle themselves towards the aircraft) they would appear as thin lines as they pass. Fortunately, it seems they only spin when in close proximity to the aircraft, and it is not noticeable from the cockpit.
October 31, 201510 yr Default clouds do a great job of masking any spinning that occurs. REX Soft Clouds also do a really nice job of masking the visible spinning. Other high def clouds including REX "non-soft" clouds show spinning pretty badly. Chris

October 31, 201510 yr No spinning clouds in V3. If you can provide a video to see what you are describing with a scenario, then maybe we can try to duplicate. Cheers, Rob.
October 31, 201510 yr I've seen the spinning clouds in V3. Top down view with ezdok passing over clouds and some will spin. Doesnt really bother me though because thats the only view I see them in and the effect looks kinda cool to me lol
October 31, 201510 yr I remember previous discussions where the zoom factor was the main culprit. I use 0.9 on all views and never noticed spinning clouds while a lot of people were able to get them in previous versions.... Quite obviously you didn't read OR understand the OP question or my response. He asked - I answered both his points. I suggest you modify your attitude. Video quality is nothing to rave about, but this is just me flying around in the default scenario shortly after takeoff. Daniel Moser
October 31, 201510 yr Commercial Member You were very careful to not show it, but you were flying very high above clouds and rotating around on a wingtip while staring out the side of the VC. Not a 'typical' situation in a training sim, but... in that case yes, they'll spin because they're sprites. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
October 31, 201510 yr they'll spin because they're sprites. Precisely. I expect them to spin any time I fly over or underneath one. Daniel Moser
