March 11, 201610 yr Actually you just need to run the add-on manager - no need to re-download it ... so long as you already have a current add-on manager v3.0.0.10 - but Jim's method will work also and ensures you have current add-on manager. The existing add-on manager checks server for latest DLLs and will update it. Cheers, Rob.
March 11, 201610 yr Hi Everyone, I have both Taubret night lighting and the night lighting from NE. I am liking Night Environment Florida more and more each day. This is where I'm at so far, look how the lights don't look like big blobs on short final. I'll have some additional photos online shortly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQwwpThvlyk&feature=youtu.be Getting there, with the help of third party developers! Nice video! One question though, didn't you have the landing lights switched on? Because it was all dark in front of the aircraft even after you landed.
March 11, 201610 yr Note that this update is only for those with "Subscription" licenses!!!!! It does not affect most customers at all. Correct, BUT if you download the full installer right now you will get that 3.2.3 version (LM updated the full installer) so right now this is the 'correct' version that I presume developer will want to support. Everyone who buys P3D now or wants to update it now will get 3.2.3. So I do think that even though this hot fix doesn't add anything of interest for most people, it would be wise to update the sim anyway, just so we are all on the same level again. As an example: Flight 1 released an update (1.05) for the GTN 750 to support 3.2.3 because the first 3.2 update (1.04) only worked with 3.2.2. Now the GTN will also work with 3.2.2 but before you know it someone releases an updates that actually requires 3.2.3 (if only because it simply looks at the version number). In short: I think everyone should install 3.2.3 anyway.
March 11, 201610 yr Correct, I ran the content installer last night and compared ... I took screenshot of what changed, but for the most part Autogen and Textures and few default aircraft, a couple of fonts, and a few other items. You'll need to re-run PrecipitFX again ... just open and hit Apply ... that will add it's FX back to default aircraft that were changed by content. Hi Rob. Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. One question on the Texture folder: Does the content installer delete the Texture folder and recreate a default one? I'm asking because there are also Orbx textures in the main Texture folder (e.g. ORBX_NCA_BLDA2.dds) and I don't want to loose them. And concerning Autogen: If I backup the old Autogen folder and overwrite the new one after installing the Content part, don't I run the risk of loosing some new files from Prepar3d v3.2? Sorry to ask that many questions but I don't want to screw my P3D installation. Thanks for your help! [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE
March 11, 201610 yr 528 post regarding a very simple procedure that LM said it would make updating P3d easier! it certainly seems to have confused a lot of people,it took me approx 10mins to download the new version, approx 1min to extract and 5 mins to uninstall and reinstall the various parts,I then deleted the shader folder,I then reinstalled Orbx Global which seems to take for ever to start installing and then to finish off reinstalled the latest version of good old Orbx lib,s.To be honest an unbelievably easy and Foolproof method of up dating P3d,my p3d program is 126gb in size and contains 254,964 files,it all seems to be running and looking very good with no issues yet found, so thanks and well done LM Peter
March 11, 201610 yr To be honest an unbelievably easy and Foolproof method of up dating P3d Sorry to say, but it is not as easy as it might sound. As I have pointed out above, the Texture folder also contains files from Orbx regions. So if the content installer messes with the Texture folder, then it might also cripple Orbx region installs. In this case it would not be sufficient to simply reinstall Orbx Global. And the content installer is necessary to get a working GSX install... Yes, definitely a bit of confusion here (for me at least). http://www.avsim.com/topic/484762-prepar3d-v32-is-out/?p=3386493 I'll install client only and see what happens with my GSX installation. March 11, 201610 yr well as I fly GA low and slow so do not have to many extra programs installed only Rex weather, all my add on scenery(Fly Tampa Aerosoft etc)is installed outside of the sim and linked via the scenery Library, just wondering if a maybe a message to the devs to enable their add ons to be installed as per LM recommendations would help you guys?,I can only go with what i see and for me this update does not seem to have lost me anything or caused me any issues apart from Orbx flow needing updateing,it seems slightly sharper and smoother,I do not know how the water looks only flown on land as yet, funny game this flight simming we have gone from stating that a problem was caused by the way FSX was left by MS and can,t be changed,to having to come to terms with LM constantly updating P3d to improve the sim,I can not see this updating cycle stopping for some time,we are dealing with a company who because of what it manufacture,s needs as near perfection in it,s products as possible,so we need to keep hold of our hats hang on for the ride and smile Peter

And the content installer is necessary to get a working GSX install... This, that's why people should upgrade the client only and stop being paranoid believing that installing the whole thing is better: it's not, it could create more issues if you use addons, unless you're prepared to install everything from scratch (that in certain cases it means spending hours or days to install and setup everything again). To the contents and scenery installs.. you may think at it only if you fall in those special cases where it's really needed a re-installation (ie: GSX may beone of those... whenever it must be confirmed).
March 11, 201610 yr Well, in my case, the update went without any issue. Of course, Objectflow is waiting to be updated, same goes for REX 4 and FSGRW. Besides that, everything works. And I updated both client and content. What I already knew from the last update: switching regions in FTX Central is mandatory after the update, otherwise there are errors in the scenery display. Even my UT2 installation works without any glitch after the update and to my surprise, I gained about 10-20% FPS on Zurich V2 scenery from AS. Only "issue": unlike some people here in the forums, I can not agree that antialising is improved, I still need the same settings as in 3.0 and 3.1 to consequently remove the flickering, especially on AI aircraft with a livery composed of lines (such as China Eastern). Without SGSSAA, for example flying around in ZBAA is a pain for the eyes, so many AI aircraft with lines in the livery that it is a flickering mess. March 11, 201610 yr All I am wanting is my gsx menu to show up. As it did perfectly fine with 3.0 to 3.1 update Now it's going to cause me headaches. So what folders exactly do we need to backup then overwrite so nothing is messed up? As there are a few conflicting comments here about updating content and how to not mess things up. Im confused. Mike

Mike I wonder why , if you have GSX which I do, that this update seems to be riskier than the update to 3.1 which didn't involve backup up, copying, overwriting etc. ?

Correct mate, I don't recall backing up with 3.1 just did client update and waited for asn and object Flow to be updated and all was good.

Mike Because LM made a number changes to the UI including menus that are transparent. So if you want the pop up menu for GSX or AI ships you need to do the Content installer as well. Its easy. Just back up your Autogen folder and Effects folder then uninstall/install Content update. Put your backup folders back in and wa la you have your menus. Content isn't really updated then ? If backing up existing folder then overwriting after content install? Cheers Mike
