Getting close to the end of the sale. I got Pago Pago and NA Landclass.

Good  choice  there,  another  one  if  you got  cash left over  and  your into ga  flying  and like  challenging  airports  to land  with slope  runways  etc   take  a look at  tap  tapini

It is not a question of texture coloring only. An OrbX region encompasses a mesh, redrawn coastlines and networks and landclass calls to a set of textures. The airports within these regions are design

I'm gonna finally pull the trigger on SoCal (yeah, I know - but I haven't been flying) and L70 to go with it. Probably get trees as well and maybe one more airport.

Last sale I picked up Eagle and Sedona hoping it get me flying again and I still haven't installed them, and I've only flown into Palm Springs a few times, but hey... I know I'll get going again "Real Soon Now" so it's an investment. Right?

Right?!

Socal is nice...even without custom airports.  LA is hard on frames and VAS both but I really enjoy the rest of it.  Santa Barbara, Santa Maria both are more than sufficient to enjoy even without the full treatment. Even Paso Robles is passable.  I'll be curious what you think about Agua Dulce.  Up north, I would have hoped we would have Arcata or Napa by now...sigh.

Hi Rob,

I was the guy who asked about the 737 capable ORBX airports awhile back. I was beginning to believe I had somehow offended ORBX airport lovers by asking that question until you provided your wonderfully detailed answer on the subject. I am now the happy owner of almost all of the airports you listed (including PAKT, PAJN and ESSA that you mentioned at the bottom of your post). I have only skipped the Aussie ones (I do not have the Australian Region) and KSEZ.

Thanks - I appreciated your input.

I second this, if you fly GA, Tapini is a MUST!  It's in my top two airports (Pago Pago as well)!

Curious, are there's others like Tapini with such challenging backwoods/sloped airports?

The OrbX Jacksons AYPY package which came before Tapini has about ten strips of that kind and there is a bonus freeeware Emo that you got to download separately.

Try flying up away from LA.  It's really nice up around, Oxnard, Santa Barbara and north.

Santa Barbara is OK. L45 is a bit hard, i don't know why. All this with clear skys...

I also own NCA and i have no problem flying the SF bay.. that's why i pulled the trigger

Cheers :)

It is important in SCA to dumb down the sliders a little, chiefly (for me) the air traffic to help the fluidity.  A high LAX and local airports traffic can kill my frame rate but I can fly the special VFR route from Santa Monica over LAX with a weaker air traffic. San Diego CBD/airports can be quite difficult though.

Also, the more you fly to the North or East of the LA basin, the smoothier your flying experience will be, even in  urban areas (e.g. from Redlands to Aqua Dulce, over Hollywood).

A last, SCA has a huge desert area (look at the kmz map)  which is really well designed  and a joy to fly. Get yourself the 29Palms airport as a hub. I flew tens of hours with the L39 or P51 over the red desert even in heavy weather and it was 100% smooth !

Hey, thanks, will check out AYPY for sure! Loved your PIREPS btw, didn't even know that site existed.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a purchase I have just made.

Just bought Tapini(TAP),installed it, but not seeing the Runway. I see a sign saying Welcome To Tapini in stones, but right next to the CS377 aircraft I opted for is a huge hill texture(see image). Do I have to also purchase FTX Global Base for this to work?

Looks nothing like some images I saw in the afore-mentioned PIREPS, which made me go for it.

Thanks a bunch, Waterman981. I wasn't even aware of that mesh. Heading over there right now to get it.
