Aerofly FS 2 new DLC Utah

APRIL 3 - IPACS AEROFLY

Dear Aerofly users,

After a longer break, we have finally published a new DLC. This DLC features the state of Utah with its fantastic region of the Monument Valley. As usual, this DLC features high resolution aerial images for a very detailed scenery. This DLC also offers over new 20 airports, including the Salt Lake City International airport.

Important note: As we have updated many files, this update is a VERY big download, basically updating half of all files in Aerofly FS 2, including existing files of the base package and other DLCs. So beware and be prepared for some longer download times. We apologize for this in advance, but it was a necessary step to simplify the work flow for future updates.

We hope you enjoy this new DLC.

In parallel we are still working on more features and new content, so stay tuned for more updates.

Oh, there is also a surprise: a very tiny hint of things to come, but no, I won't say what it is because somebody will be yelling about it soon enough, and then everyone will be going to take a look......

Consider it an Easter egg.

Am I right in thinking there are no airports in this new Utah area?

It seems this version has finally fixed the frame skip/stuttering issue I've had with the sim on two separate systems for the past ~8 months.
A i7 4770K and GTX 970 4 GB, and a Ryzen 1800X and GTX 1070 8 GB.

The actual frame rate was high (over 60 FPS in New York), but the sim skipped frames and "lurched" about once a second making it virtually unflyable, especially with Vsync on, but also with it turned off.

I've complained about this in their forums for months but it always fell on deaf ears. Seems like they finally got around to fixing it, which is good. Now I can get back and see what progress I've missed while the sim was an unusable mess.

Think I will take a flight around Monument Valley and check it out!  Am hoping that the 3rd party developers start making aircraft and scenery soon.

After installation of the Free UTAH scenery some people reported instances of texture corruption. Ipacs has looked at the issue and released the following guidance.

Re-download of Hi-Res Aerial pack - Continued issues with scenery

The hi-res pack is being uploaded to Steam again in an effort to fix the problems that many of you are seeing. This will incur yet another download on your part, and we apologize for that, but it is necessary. If you are having issues related to scenery misplacement or graphical anomalies, instead of posting in a bunch of different threads independently, please post what you are seeing, where you are seeing it, and WHAT ARE YOUR PC SPECS. Thank you for your help.

The new download will not add to your file space requirements and will only replace existing files.

Please keep your posts productive and in line with the problem itself.

The clouds were/are from a third party, and at this point are known to cause issues. Ipacs will be replacing them, probably about the same time they do the weather update. Heck, we may even see something from REX, someday. In the meantime, avoid using Max cumulous clouds, and turn off the sun lensflare if your machine is having issues.

Man...what a difference with Utah, now...!

Like a lot of other users, the first download of all the new files, had file corruption.  Some were glaring, like for instance around the boundaries of Monument Valley.  Other's not so...but now that I have redownloaded, AeroFly's corrected high-res Ariel Scenery packs....WOW.....was I missing so much high resolution imagery!!!

You need to download the corrected files from Steam ASAP.

Yeah, it's pretty spectacular scenery... just like Utah really is! :)

Hi Mitch,

I'm assuming that's why I was unable to run Aerofly FS2 today and, instead, STEAM has forced a further download of 76.2GB! LOL! My Broadband may not be the fastest on the planet but, thank goodness, corruption of downloads very rarely occurs using Firefox or Steam. I'm guessing STEAM uses checksum checking routines to ensure accuracy. Yet another overnight session 😢

Mike

Apparently Mike, it was not with Steam, but with the actual files of the first huge download.  The Dev's corrected what went wrong, and then put up the (again)  the forced full High Res Arial Pack.  As soon I went back to Monument Valley, the difference was HUGE.  Everywhere in Utah, is now as it should have been, but was not on the first download. It's a pain...and sucks up monthly bandwith allowance...but is needed.  Oh...one more thing, the first download took only half the time of the second, so that suggests that I didn't even get a full download of files on the first go.
