ORBX Ship Simulator?

Recommended Posts

This of course is a joke, but I wanted to take a picture in the screenshot forum over at the ORBX website a step further. The original one showed the “Bounty” berthed in Nanaimo, it wasn't posted by me.

The “Passat” you can see here in Nanaimo is a four-masted steel barque, launched in 1911. She was decommissioned in 1957 and is now anchored in Lübeck, Germany, where she serves as museum and youth hostel.

I have to admit that motoring along the coast of Vancouver Island with all the lights in the background was something special. You sit in the evening in front of your PC, have a glass of decent red in your hand and enjoy the scenery slowing moving by. In the background you hear the rumbling sound of a big, old, slow turning ship diesel. It seems that you have all the time in the world

I'm not quite sure, Harald. I'm presently not on board the Passat. I have left the ship in San Francisco, as I needed to attend to some business there. But I will send the captain a radio and ask him of his exact position

While I appreaciate the hard work and attention to detail, how practical is this? I mean sure, for the purpose of something like this thread it can give you lots to look at, but do we really need that much beyond the exterior model of the boat for *flight simming*?

Just makes me wonder if all these little things add up to take away from my FPS and for nothing really if we talk about flying...

Harald, the Passat has already left Valparaiso, has successfully sailed around Cape Horn and is on its way to Hamburg, Germany. Once it will go up the river Elbe, I could post a few pics here. But I'm not sure, whether I should actually do that, as this forum is more related to flying than sailing

Ah but do they not make Airbuses right there, next to the river?

I am sure a low-flying A320 test flight would be nicely framed in the rigging...
