Looks like I'm going to have to uninstall REX HD Airports because I can't seem to solve my problem of hangers disappearing when I change angles from inside or outside. I reinstalled Zinertek but the issue continues. It only started after I bought HD Airports.  Rarely use default airports any way. Like with all this stuff you pays your money and takes your chances.

Seems some like it and some don't.

You could post that in each and every topic on this forum. Or any forum. LOL

the custom buildings that you pick from the stock object libraries aren't affected at all

Thanks...I'd begun to suspect that as none of the buildings I see in Rex screenshots seem to be selectable out of the object libraries...strange though, I would have thought default airports would be built from default objects...obviously more complicated than I thought :)

I'll be waiting a while to purchase too...

Cheers

...

Keith, the airport terminal buildings and some of the hangars are hybrids betweeen stock 3D objects and autogen objects.

Lamont Clark made a nice utility many years ago called Wishplacer where you can make these kinds of buildings quite easily - inside or outside of airports. Using the default SDK tool for this isn't quite so easy for the novice user.

That's what I'm using :)

Then a few of the buildings you create might have their textures replaced.

Disappearing buildings when the angle changes is a known element of FSX/P3D and happens no matter the texture applied to it.

I'm pretty confident that should you uninstall and go back to the exact same scenario and check you will find the same situation.

You,re right. I have uninstalled REX HD Airports, reinstalled Zinertek, uninstalled Zinertek, and still have this issue. Using my home airport KLQK in South Carolina I am certain this didn't  start until REX was installed. No problem at addon airports.

Vic, installing REX didn't cause this problem for you. I want to be clear on that.

Apologies to REX. What I discovered was when I turn on autogen to normal the disappearing hangers cease. Since most of my flying is airliners I leave autogen off for performance reasons. Don't know the reason for this but that seems to be the case. Not REX'S fault.

I'd be interested in a list of the default objects that are retextured

All of the default airports, EXCEPT what's on THIS LIST.

Note: Some textures (such as jetways) at Enchanced Airports may also be updated by REX, but the terminals and some other buildings won't.

I'm still working on the Guide to help people understand this... should be out by this Sunday.

Best wishes.

Thanks ... but it's the OBJECTS that I'm interested in ... e.g gen_hanger07.bgl, AIR_FBO_LARGE.bgl that I include in custom airports :)

Nope they aren't.. actual screen captures from the video itself. None of the material is enhanced at all.

Are the revamped airports saved to the FSX scenery or do you have to go into REX for each airport and select?

There is nothing done to the airports themselves - It's the stock textures that gets changed and it applies to all airports that uses the default autogen style buildings.

No need to save anything!
