December 31, 20169 yr This might be the reason why I have no weather on two laptops where HT cannot be switched off. Hans
December 31, 20169 yr Just an Update: I just submitt the ticket. Just so that you know, if does appear in log that with HT on cloud are downloading; I posted both logs so you see. In the 2nd one at the bottom you will see no clouds download with the wx update complete. December 31, 20169 yr Not working with HT off is a dealbreaker unfortunately. The whole point of getting an i7 is to take advantage of the extra threads. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit
December 31, 20169 yr No Hyper-threading is in your bios Strange..., but I remember posts, I think from Rob, where he wrote, that in p3d he has hyperthreading off and get's a better performance with his 8/16 core cpu. But afaik HT on/off should not influence the execution or the logical decisions of an application. Tom Sometimes I have to admit to myself:"Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses"
December 31, 20169 yr Not working with HT off is a dealbreaker unfortunately. The whole point of getting an i7 is to take advantage of the extra threads. It does works with HT off, it when you turn it on is when it breaks. But yeah, you want to be able to switch depending on what performance you'll getting between HT on and HT off. So far I believe I may have better performance with it on but unfortunately I can't test it because the clouds are not downloading with it on. But i'm sure they will figure it out. This is something everybody would not expect to the see and so far i'm only one seeing this issue right now. Bob

December 31, 20169 yr Sorry! I meant on lol Felipe Vicini No problem Felipe lol So stay tune and lets see what happens. Once I find out either way or if there is a fix then I will update everyone. Bob
December 31, 20169 yr LOL Maybe we can ask nVidia to rename that option to something else and NOT similar to HT?! Yeah, it's about time the started paying attention to the confusion of niche simmers! My clouds seem to be loading OK so I'm not keen to go mucking about with HT yet, but will watch this 'thread' (geddit?) with interest. Just out of interest, does HT have much bearing on vanilla XP11 performance? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
January 1, 20179 yr This is interesting as I have not seen many clouds but thought thats what the weather was and I always have HT on - hmm anyone let xenviro folks know this ? Hi Rich I just saw post: Sorry I took so long. Just been running back and forth answering post and eating dinner at the same time lol. That interesting, so your not getting the clouds and have HT on. I did put in a ticket with them so i'm hoping in a few days I will get a responds. (Hopefully sooner) I put up the logs with one working that show what should be in the log and one that not working, in case you haven't already seen it. Compare your logs with what I posted when your in an area that clouded and if you see the last section where there is cloud information before the wx updated compete line, then you maybe impacted as well. Once I find out I will definitely let you know. Bob
January 1, 20179 yr Hi Rich Once I find out I will definitely let you know. Bob Thanks Bob - with XP and xenviro all in beta I am going to wait it out and hope it all works out - sure it will - always run NT on and always will - take care  Rich Sennett
January 1, 20179 yr Wow, this thread is really active. What's x-enviro will offer if I already have FGRW+RealWeather Connector+SMP 4? Vu Pham i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS
January 1, 20179 yr Wow, this thread is really active. What's x-enviro will offer if I already have FGRW+RealWeather Connector+SMP 4? Watch some youtube videos and only you will be able to answer your own question. As someone who had SMP v3/RWC & FSGRW for xp 10, I do not like the way weather is depicted by those add-ons. I do like xEnviro as it's the only add-on that comes close to representing the weather like AS16/ASCA. xEnviro does not have all the features available in AS16/ASCA combo, but it's the best weather representation I've seen in XPlane. But. as I stated, only you can decide what you prefer. MSFS
January 1, 20179 yr Wow, this thread is really active. What's x-enviro will offer if I already have FGRW+RealWeather Connector+SMP 4? I have SMP4+RWC and I've been testing XEnviro, mainly for GA flying below 15,000 feet in IFR and VFR conditions. Here are some subjective impressions of the difference between the two: SkyMaxx Pro Pros: Good representation of larger cumulus shapes. Completely adjustable for winds and clouds using the default XP weather menu. User can choose from several METAR sources for better redundancy/long-term reliability. Weather briefing: you can see what the current injected winds and clouds are in the default weather menu, and the ATIS info at airports using the X-Plane map is accurate (I think). SkyMaxx Pro Cons: Too much use of puffy individual "popcorn" clouds to represent overcast (although there is a solid overcast mode you can switch to). Repeating cloud shape bitmaps are sometimes too noticeable. Cloud cover at high altitude doesn't extend to horizon. Not great for tubeliner flying. No weather systems seen in the far distance. Not as much sky color and cloud color variation as XEnviro. XEnviro Pros: Generally better representation of overcast when flying above, especially broken overcast. Cloud cover extends to horizon, and shows weather systems in the far distance. More varied sky colors and cloud patterns. A better feeling of flying through constantly changing weather. XEnviro Cons: Some adjustment possible, and a CAVOK "bail out" switch, but not as much as with SkyMaxx Pro. Not as good as SkyMaxx Pro in showing larger cumulus shapes close by or in the distance. Many, many visual glitches, especially with visibility at lower altitudes (will probably be patched out over time). Inconsistent weather injection with sudden changes, possible server drop-outs. Uses weather data from one private server, so you're tied to that for better or worse. No weather briefing. Doesn't sync to ATIS on map, and I never know what the injected weather is (wind speeds, etc.). This is still just an early impression, based on a half-dozen flights of an hour or two each, and mostly up in the Pacific Northwest in a mix of good and bad weather this time of year. I still don't know which one I'll end up using. I need to spend more time with Xenviro in different conditions. I do think XEnviro has the advantage in showing the look of high altitude flying for airliner pilots. If that's all I did it would be an easy choice. But I never fly those planes, I'm always in GA bush planes and helicopters. So it's the low level appearance that interests me, especially for mountain flying. I'm not sold on it yet, compared to SkyMaxx Pro at lower levels. X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator on Windows 10 i7 6700 4.0 GHz, 32 GB RAM, GTX 1660 ti, 1920x1200 monitor
