January 1, 20179 yr Got some amazing skies this afternoon on a flight from Liverpool (England) to Canaerfon (North Wales). Scenery is Ortho4XP with W2XP GB Pro. Winds and clouds were as per METAR (winds were exactly half that on the METAR as that is the setting I have). https://1drv.ms/f/s!AkmGUkjXtWpskmzaDwqcTQj9iaS8 cheers Peter Beautiful shots Peter! What zl are you using on the ortho? Regards, David Stupidly expensive rig, nonplussed Memsahib, disinterested offspring and a fascinated cat as Rio. XP11, P3Dv3 and an Oculus Rift.
January 1, 20179 yr Beautiful shots Peter! What zl are you using on the ortho? Regards, David Thanks David - they are z17. For Liverpool which is my 'home' airport I use z18 cheers Peter Peter Allen Chillblast custom built: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.5Ghz, Nvidia GTX1080Ti, Corsair Hydro H100i v2, Asus Maximus Hero IX Z270, 32Gb DDR4 3000Mhz (4 X 8Gb), 250Gb Samsung 960 Evo SSD PCie, 2 x 1Tb Crucial SSD, 1 x 4Tb, Corsair 850W PSU. January 1, 20179 yr Thanks for the info Peter. I have been using z16 around the Lakes (doesn't quite cut it compared to yours), and z18 for a 3k radius of egnl. Will have to do a remake. January 2, 20179 yr Here are a couple of the visual glitches I mentioned in that last post. They'll probably be fixed at some point, but meanwhile it's a bit immersion-breaking. Flying out of Vancouver Intl headed for Tofino, heavy rain at ground level and some weird "rain driven water" artifacts repeated on every pavement surface: Those rain patterns might be an XP11 problem, I'm not sure. But this next one is definitely XEnviro. This is what it looked like a few seconds later, climbing up out of that rain layer. There is a block of low visibility that cuts off sharply (see the mountains in the distance). You can still see the end of the runway through the viz layer, at the middle right part of the image: In that previous image, I can't see anything above that rain layer that would be causing all that heavy precip in the first image. Just a few scattered clouds. It remained clear all the way to Tofino, when the actual weather was more like the first image with overcast and rain/mixed snow. Here is that weird sharp cutoff of haze again, from an earlier flight in Western Canada. Sharp mountains in the far distance, then a block of haze that cuts off again near the plane. When the visibility is reduced even further, what you get is a rolling wall of fog ahead of the plane that you never quite reach. XEnviro seems to be having problems showing low visibility near the ground: BTW, I have SkyMaxx Pro v4 completely removed from my computer for these tests, so whatever is going on here, it's pure XEnviro. The actually looks like the default XP blowing snow texture. There is a blank replacement file on the org if you want to get rid of it. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit
January 2, 20179 yr I did express that concern to them. I waiting for a responds. I agree it should not volatile your use of the software if you are just turning HT on and off. Thank you Bob ! Tom Sometimes I have to admit to myself:"Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses"
January 2, 20179 yr Thank you Bob ! Tom Tom I receive a responds from xEnviro support and didn't get straight answer that I was looking. But they said the program is active with switch HT on and off. I guess its all working at this point but I will test to make sure later today or tonight and see. One other person report that his started working after he perform those steps even though he did not switch HT on or off in the process of using the weather engine with X Plane. So there could have been a hiccup of some sort during the activation process or something down the line. If yours is not working right now, try my steps and check the log for xEnviro and make sure your getting the cloud downloads. (that is the key) If you'll getting them, than everything is working. If not, even after you re activated xEnviro, put in a ticket them, let them know. Bob
January 2, 20179 yr I'm not sold on it yet, compared to SkyMaxx Pro at lower levels. Thanks. I am also a GA flier. Will wait and see then. Vu Pham i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS
January 2, 20179 yr Hey all.. still relatively new with XP (11) and now Xenviro.. is there an easy way to get an ATIS, weather info from a local airport from within the sim to see the wind direction/speed etc.. doesnt seem to exist within the ATC (return key) option, or maybe i'm doing something wrong or dont know the keyboard command Thanks Asus Strix z790-e; 1000 watt evga SuperNova Plat; 14900k AC_LL 0.55 adp -0.050 253/253/355 CEPoff (CB-1pass 39200 80c, msfs peak 92,avg 60-78c, astrorender 95c,room76F); 64GB(dual 32) cl32 6400 at 6400 xmpII F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK, Asus Ryuo III 360mm; Thermaltake v51 Case; Gigabyte 4090 OC; VR-Crystal; Dofreality H6; Astrosite
January 2, 20179 yr As far as I know, there is no way to get info on what XEnviro is currently injecting into the sim. It doesn't connect to the ATIS reports you can get from airports on X-Plane's map view. No weather briefings is one of my big peeves about the program. Since they use their own server, there is no independent way to know what it's doing. I'd like to know what the actual winds are that are being injected, and since I can't know, I just use the slider in Settings to back them all the way down. Ah thats unfortunate.. i didnt realize at least the atis ones can be had from the map view, ill try that for now.. but yeah, hard to say what the actual wind speed is.. would be nice if there was an onscreen display way of showing the wind info like with p3d Asus Strix z790-e; 1000 watt evga SuperNova Plat; 14900k AC_LL 0.55 adp -0.050 253/253/355 CEPoff (CB-1pass 39200 80c, msfs peak 92,avg 60-78c, astrorender 95c,room76F); 64GB(dual 32) cl32 6400 at 6400 xmpII F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK, Asus Ryuo III 360mm; Thermaltake v51 Case; Gigabyte 4090 OC; VR-Crystal; Dofreality H6; Astrosite

January 3, 20179 yr Could you please point me to a video showing XEnviro turbulence and heavy turbulence effects while flying ? Thx in advance
January 3, 20179 yr Anyone having issues with xenviro not downloading the weather, even after waiting for a longer period of time? Last nite for instance.. no weather downloaded.. switch to default based on current conditions and boom clouds/rain etc, but with xenviro, nothing. This morning however, tested it, within 30 seconds i had instant cloudy rainy (current) weather with xenviro.. guessing maybe a server issue before? Also.. what does cavok mean in the menu.. anyone know? January 3, 20179 yr Also.. what does cavok mean in the menu.. anyone know? CAVOK stands for 'Ceiling and Visibility are OK' which sort of means 'clear weather, clear skies'. If you select that option in X-Enviro you will sort of turn the weather off and get clear weather. It is not a specific X-Enviro term: you will find it in METARs if skies are clear.
January 3, 20179 yr Yeah, I've had episodes like that. Not just a failure to show what's happening in the real world, but a sudden drastic change in weather, like the server dropped out previously and then re-sync'd. Also strange graphics effects like I posted earlier, which look to me like XEnviro is only loading one part of the vertical layers and dropping the rest. .
