Drive your Nvidia card to its knees

Featured Replies

Remember the era of the benchmark? Back when Mad Onion (now Futuremark) came out with those graphics demos that forced us to considering upgrading every year?

Well, prepare to relive that with the Square Enix's demo for Final Fantasy XV, which pretty much throws 4K and every single last Nvidia special effect in the book at your computer and dares it to survive.

Got a new system you want to test? Feeling competitive? This is the benchmark, and at the end you will be scored against nationwide listings.

This is causing quite a stir on the web right now, with many saying either that it's absolutely impossible to run, or that their systems are eating it alive.

Websites are testing it frame by frame, and reviews are everywhere.

Give it a shot!

With all of this BitCoin BS flying around, I don't have the money to buy a new graphics card.at the moment. £400 for a GTX 1060 is laughable.

On which topic, there is no way in the world I would download install and run something which I have no doubt at all is mining Bitcoins for someone on my hot graphics card!

Anyway, I know my graphics card would eat that stuff for breakfast.

So there.

Well, I guess I can consider myself to have been given a reality check.

Subconsciously, I've been assuming that the greater majority of people "out there" have by now upgraded to at minimum a Nvidia "10" or AMD equivalent series graphics card, but judging from the now dozens of videos of this benchmark in action across the web, it appears the "standard" card version in the hands of the majority may be a bit lower than I thought.

It makes me wonder if there's ever been a survey here, or at any other Flight simulation site of exactly what sort of Gpu horsepower the average member is packing?

Anyway, since it seems few are trying the demo, I'll go ahead and post a video!

I am using a GTX 760 for three years now. We costed out a new system build these pass few weeks and we are going to wait this next economic fluctuation out before we upgrade. I think Bitcoin's bubble will burst and the global economy is showing weakness, this is a good thing for those who are recession proof so we can purchase stuff at better prices.

I am recession proof and like these dips when they come from time to time, means we can buy another house

Not impressed. Every time Nvidia partners with a developer, whatever it is gets aggressively disassembled so that AMD fans can yell foul.

Essentially the gist (every single time!) is that Nvidia gets unfair advantages by working with developers to implement proprietary effects that don't work as well on competing hardware.

At a certain point I ended up going "Well duh!" a few years ago.

The underlying beef always ends up being (after a lot of talking and charts and flames) that nvidia should "play nice" by not pressing its advantages in the marketplace to aggressively encourage the use of effects that don't work as well on the competition, and that doing so is somehow nefarious, even if there is no documentable wrongdoing involved.

If they could show something deliberate, I would be a lot more interested.

Not as fanciful as it might seem... just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they are NOT out to get you :)
