February 20, 20188 yr Just wondering, is the IAS Mode of the Autopilot working this time ? That's a quite important mode for F50 operation. With working I mean does the speed get held exactly by pitch changes ? In several Carenado planes the IAS mode holds "something", but never the exact speed. 1. Hi, This was my stream, there is GTN integration, in the lower left of the pedestal covering the transponder, once you install the GTN you've to click the click spot for it to appear. Also can I just say, I just loaded It up and took her for a spin last night, I didn't(obviously) follow any of the checklists or procedures. im very happy with the plane it looks fantastic and I've a friend who has said in VR the passenger cabin is very immersive!.

Kind of a rare beast in the states compared to the F27? Thanks, Steve Not silly at all but I don't think any US airlines ever operated the Fokker 50 and I'm not sure if any of the type ever flew with'N' (or even Canadian) registrations. Your only hope is that a fictional repaint of the aircraft might appear in the colour scheme of a US airline. I was hoping to see one in Aer Lingus Commuter livery as they were the only Fokker 50s I ever had a chance to travel on in real life. Bill
February 20, 20188 yr Hmmm... I did two actual full flights and a few take off - climb - landing tests in the last hours. What to say. I was happy in Carenado bashing the last years. None of their last releases was ok and bugs still in the 1.2 versions including simple carry over bugs from older releases. Not to mention their "pain(t)kits" white liveries. But this one looks different. It looks that different that I would say thats not a Carenado at all ;) The AP is working like I would expect including a looks like correct IAS hold (with ALT SEL combined working etc...), like said before in this thread the turboprop rendition is really good with improved responsiveness and ground handling (for based on the default sim engine and yes I own the Majestic Dash 8), GTN is in place and can provide AP with course, FMS basic but ok for this price range... The tests so far were done in real but nice weather. Other conditions to be checked like icing, pitot working etc... Even for ones waiting for liveries I could give a slight all-clear. The texture set is a way cleaner and tidy than the last releases which makes it a lot easier to repaint in my eyes. This will not turn me into a blind Carenado follower but at least me totally confused (and I mean it positive) about this release... Cheers T. PS: btw with the current exchange rates to the USD the F50 is about 36 EUR for me... Compare it to a 30 EUR F27 from Aeroplane Hell you can get at Justflight this one is a dream compared to the F27 crap (and again only my personal opinion ;) )

February 20, 20188 yr Apu seems to be missing or not all fokker 50 comes with apu installed? As I recall on my last fokker trip in borneo the pilots gave me a cockpit tour and constantly mentioning the apu benefit which is not present on ATR aircrafts that will be replacing their fokkers. Hoped carenado would gave it as an option seeing the 45dollar price tag.
February 20, 20188 yr Afaik APU was only an option on the later produced ones and could be retrofitted as some other gimmicks according to the web sources. So looks like Carenado did not include it and rendered an unchanged earlier version. Cheers T.

I found these two videos - One of them is London City which we all know is pretty aggressive on the approach angle in the first place but it definitely looks to be a pronounced nose down on final. What remains to be seen is if the model needs some tweaking, similar to the PC-12 which required a little modification of the flaps setting in the .cfg. My experience, at least with Carenado's DO-228 & PC-12 is if you're too fast the nose down attitude will be very pronounced. But those are both STOL aircraft. Hoping to pick up the F50 this weekend to give it a try. - Mark Manacsa Most of the flight simulation community is pretty toxic and gets easily worked up about little things. February 20, 20188 yr Would love to buy it . but apparently my $5K paypal account isn't good enough to purchase with on the Carenado site. I refuse to attach my bankcard when I have a perfectly good paypal account I've used to build entire computer systems with, wanting a secondary charge instrument. and I couldn't find it on the usual vendors site either. oh well Capt. I agree and my impression also is that Carenado appears to have taken a step forward with the Fokker 50 in terms of its functionality at the time of release although I am saying that having only done two flights in it so far, flying manually or using the AP and GTN. I admit that I haven't yet tried the FMS but perhaps I might be surprised by that too!! As always for a Carenado product the visual modelling is superb both internally and externally. I like the idea of the click spot to make the integrated GTN appear or disappear and, although I am not too keen on where it has been positioned low down on the pedestal, I can see that Carenado might have had a little difficulty finding somewhere more convenient to place it. As it is quite difficult to see and access in this position however, I think I might be making a lot of use of the 2D pop-up instead! My only gripe so far is that the manuals, as always with Carenado aircraft, leave quite a bit to be desired. There is only a brief description of the overhead panel with one image of it and surprisingly there is no description whatsoever of the main panel or pedestal! There are the usual normal and emergency procedure checklists but this potentially complex airliner really could benefit from a tutorial flight or two particularly for less experienced sim pilots. However, not to end on a negative note, I am quite pleased and pleasantly surprised with the Fokker 50 and the sounds are great! Bill
February 20, 20188 yr Only done one flight, TNCC- TNCM, but would concur with the initial favourable impression. Haven't installed the GTN but used the basic FMS without any problems, hand flying felt good and was pleasantly surprised by the ground handling for a turboprop. All subject to the proviso that needless to say, I have no experience in an F50 and not having done any research on performance figures yet wouldn't want to comment on whether it 'flies by the numbers' As per usual looks fantastic, but as ever manuals are severely lacking. That said, my expectations weren't great ( but bought it as I just love the F50) - however have to admit, pleasantly surprised so far. A cautious OK from my early experience. Neil Burgess
February 21, 20188 yr OK from me as well, after one flight.. GTN750 steers the autopilot, after first searching for it in the cockpit (shift+3 provides the GTN option..).. Engine management is still a riddle for me.. there are push buttons with TO CLMB CRZ etc.. not sure how that relates to the manual throttle... will be fun learning it all Bert
