Didn't IRIS Simulations do a C-130? Anyway...I am hoping it is SR-71 fully modelled by LM's Team (C-5 Galaxy will be cool too) Edited June 23, 20187 yr by Skywolf How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)
June 23, 20187 yr Commercial Member In regards to the new plane in 4.3, I am going to guess that it will be the C-130. It would make sense to have that in the hanger for military simulation and training purposes. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations

June 23, 20187 yr I have yet to see a default plane in P3D I really like and actually use. Well... for certain situations I like the Maule. But the news about a new big default plane doesn't excite me at all. In fact... when I heard they were adding a new default plane for free I immediately thought: "Who are they adding this for...?" Isn't P3D supposed to be an official and serious training platform? Which serious training facility uses a default plane? Seems like LM is interested in flightsimmers and hobbyists after all? What were they doing in Vegas anyway if they are really only interested in serious training? I mean, Vegas! Talking about entertainment! 😏 Edited June 23, 20187 yr by Guest

Talking about entertainment! 😏 I have said this many times, they do really care about the flight sim community and 3rd party developers. I was in Vegas as an Exhibitor, I exchanged very nice conversations with the developers and although I don't wish to disclose anything we talked about, I can tell you that they do really care about you and us (developers). I was very impressed with Rob Mccarthy who was stopping on every Booth taking notes about everything 3rd party developers were suggesting him. He even stopped at mine at stayed with me for about 35 minutes, bear in mind I am relatively new and not much people knows about my products and what I do, he was very kind to ask me about us, watched a demonstration, etc. Next day he stopped by again and gave some P3D shirts for my team. Either way, I don't give a monkeys about the legal terminology linked to the licenses. The fact they are engaging on a really significant level (even if it's not really visible to the end user) is a win-win for everyone.

I don't think the inclusion of another default plane (more than likely to be a Captain Sim licensed version made to work in V4 - if it is the C-130) will negatively affect their resourcing. They have not really made any comment about development resourcing used to develop another default aircraft - other than to say there is another one.)

Did I not read somewhere that LM now have exclusive rights and ownership of all the code? Presumably this means that they have a perfect right to be moving the goal posts as and when deemed appropriate and without any ongoing potential outside interference from Microsoft. Mike

Given the significance of v4 what would be the attraction of v5? v4 was significant because it was the first 64 bits P3D. V5 will have that as well. But you'll also have performance improvements and maybe a new lighting engine as some people here seems to think. We won't know about that until the release, but whatever comes with v5 it will never get the hype and importance of the switch the 64bits v4 brought. As for waiting for v5, if fsl release the concorde for v4 before v5 is out I'm sure you'll buy v4 however close v5 might be.

Mike Yes, LM does own the ESP code. Even few of the MS ACES team members now work for LM Prepar3d team. If I recall correctly, all of this was mentioned in the audio podcast). I am 99.9% certain that I will never purchase v4. By the time that I need to upgrade to a 64bit version of P3D, I expect v5 to have been released. As to performance improvements they should come but possibly via a better GPU than CPU. L-M appear to be moving in that direction given CPU improvements aren’t huge these days. Being retired most of my flying is in daylight so better lighting is not a major thing for me. DX12 support could come with v5 I suppose which could enhance realism. If FSL release Concorde before v5 arrives then yes, I’m likely to switch to v4.3 which would be nicely tweaked. Similar to how v3.4 was when I switch from FSX last year. I could then stay with v4 unless there were exceptional reasons for moving to v5. Ray (Cheshire, England).
