Microsoft voices in P2A

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why Microsoft's UK voices won't show up in P2A?  Only the 3 US voices show.

Being a Brit and my home airport is EGKK Gatwick, I would prefer to have George (UK) as my First Officer.

Oddly, I have the French voice (Hortense) working, but I cannot get Frank (Nederlands) to show.   If one French voice will work, then surely at least one of the UK voices should.

I was going to ask almost the same. I am in the U.S. and attempted to add the Canadian voice but it does not show as an option.

Here's the list of Desktop voices in each of the languages.  Notice George is not among them.

The other voices are Mobile and are not usable in P2A.  There is a way to mess with the Registry to trick Windows into thinking the Mobile voices are Desktop, but that is dangerous and seems to be reversed with each Windows Update.

Thanks Dave

So that's the common factor - "desktop".  And, there is only 1 male voice amongst them!

That is why I can only use David, Hazel, Zira & Hortense.

Frustrating!  I have two males in my four Cepstral voices, and am trialling Ivona's Brian as my First Officer, but after the 30 day trial that will cost about £48.

Ah well - no one said Flight Sim was going to be cheap 😀

At Nextup.com, you can get the IVONA voices for less if you bundle multiple voices....but yes, they are not cheap.

Hi Dave

I am finding that IVONA voices work well, and at €39 are acceptably priced - shame about the weakness of the £ just now.  For example, Brian, a UK voice, is excellent for my First Officer.  Also, Hortense, a Microsoft desktop voice, speaks English in a delightful French accent.  I use her on European flights.

As there are 15 areas of control in the P2A list, I am wondering if P2a can use 15 different voices.  I seem to recall reading somewhere that 12 are its limit.

There are 15 possible voice assignments in P2A at present, so 15 is the limit.  On the list of enhancements is the random assignment of voices, at which time the sky's the limit.

Yes - a great find indeed.  I've already tried two of them and P2A does see them.

I downloaded voices from Neueber

They are free and work well.

This sounds too good to be true.  Is there some kind of catch to getting all of these free voices when they cost much more at CereProc and other locations?

Hi all,

i love flying with atc. but the voices have no radio effect. i have tried with "apo equalizer" and "Virtual Audio Cable" to apply the effect only to pilot2atc. but it doesn't work.

If that could be set in pilot2atc, i would be the happiest man in the world!!!

Does anyone know how I could do that?

Sorry for my bad english :-)

You can set the background static .wav file in P2A and also the volume of that file to get a more radio like voice from the controllers.

Amazing! That's an attitude I've totally overlooked so far.
I have now created my own modified .wav file. Will this file be overwritten by a future update of P2A?

Give your new file a different name and then set the "Radio Background Sound" file name on the Sound tab of config to that new name.  That way a new install of P2A will not overwrite your new file.

Thank you very much. I should have thought of that myself.
Sorry.
