December 30, 20187 yr For the life of me I cannot understand why Orbx would not demand/require seasons in all of its products in P3Dv4. I personally hope P3D users DO NOT conform to XP engine limitations.🤢🤮 link removed Yet another example of going backwards creep. Or is this market research? XP vs P3D?😠 Download size???...just break it up into several chunks!!!🤔 So is this what we have to look forward to??? what's next, no runways w/o a separate purchase! ☣️EXCUSES ☢️ Edited December 31, 20187 yr by Jim Young Not required and a competing website.
December 30, 20187 yr Taking high quality Summer photoimagery and turning it into Spring and Fall with color filters is challenging enough. But making it look like Winter requires real artistic talent, even with placement of bare deciduous tree autogen. Not to mention that your original 30 GB is now 120 GB. What's the point of seasonal photo real if it doesn't look real? One might as well stick with the patchwork photorealistic approach used in ORBX Open LC. Photorealistic makes more sense for warm climates and also the area surrounding key POIs. The patchwork solution works best to fill in the large gaps of rural countryside, where no one could tell the difference anyway.
December 30, 20187 yr The title is 100% misleading - it should point to Orbx TE England. The size will be massive if seasons were added. I love seasons, lets see what happens. Maybe Orbx is testing the market and may release weather shader or something. Maybe some new fancy stuff is upcoming in P3D betas (which they are 100% testing). I am sure there will be some sort of solution found soon. I won't worry about it - I would just enjoy TE England 😉 Edited December 30, 20187 yr by Skywolf How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)
December 30, 20187 yr as i own a lot of ORBX stuff i and love TE Netherlands, i am out for this one. Having only summer season is a showstopper for me 😞 Carsten U
December 30, 20187 yr I thinks it’s strictly down to the download/installation size. It would probably also be more expensive.
December 30, 20187 yr I personally prefer LC and vector regions over photo real because of these “limitations”. Recently started testing ortho scenery in XP and the scenery is stupidly big in installation size.

December 30, 20187 yr TE England would be *huge* with seasons; it's already huge. It would take way longer to make and John V. also pointed out their bandwidth costs would break them. My PC: I7-7700K 4.9 Ghz (OC), ASUS MAXIMUS IX HERO, 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM, EVGA GTX 1080Ti, EVGA 850 G3 Gold power supply, C:=1TB WD Black D:=1TB M.2 Samsung 960 Pro, Windows 10 Pro, Prepar3D v4, AFS2, Tons of Orbx 🙂 https://www.flickr.com/photos/buffy-foster/ || https://buffyfostersblog.wordpress.com/
December 30, 20187 yr anyway.everyone is talking abou tmaking FlightSim more realistic... that lags in terms of not having seasons... indeed one reason not to move to xp, except the different control types i get not used to.... Carsten U
December 30, 20187 yr Such a short term way of thinkin' by ORBX. As if the future will never get here. It always does. 😀 MSFS
December 30, 20187 yr No seasons = no purchase for me. I understand the cost/complexity involved, but 4 seasons in many areas of the world are rather dramatically different and it's important for me to "feel" that difference as it gives flights a 4X re-use because of the season. But how is this going to look when we fly from LC based Orbx area with seasons to a permanent summer in a TE area? It's going to look very odd as the winter transition just "stops". If it costs more to produce, then I'll pay more, but that LAST thing I want to see is yet another add-on following the path of LCD (lowest common denominator) ... we had and have this issue already with the FSX ball and chain, now we're going to get it again? I hope it's not related to "workflow" and XP11 limitations? ... this is NOT what progress is about ... one step forward three steps back. I'll vote with my wallet, but not very happy about this decision at all ... I hope JV has a re-think. Cheers, Rob. Edited December 30, 20187 yr by Guest
