Does EF need to be running in the background like SkyForce to enable on the fly texture transitions due to weather and time of day or do you set/forget it and close when running P3d and AS?

Can't imagine having yet another program running with everything else when flying and expecting acceptable frames...

you need  to start  ef  first   than  your  sim  and  the  reverse  order  when  closing  ,  exit  sim  than  exit   ef

If you have EF than you don't need to start SF so basically the number of addons you need to start will stay the same 😉

Wait a minute....?

I thought for real-time weather transitions and weather fronts and rain funnels you NEED SF running in the background with your weather engine.

And EF just changes the textures on the fly from sunny clouds to dark rain clouds?

So technically wouldn’t you need both running in the background with AS for instance?

No, if you have both then you only need EF running. If you only have SF then you obviously need SF running. It was said numerous times.

You also need it running if you're using real-time sync mode, right?

It's not necessary to have Sky Force open or running when using Environment Force. EF interfaces with the SF install and will pull from that directory accordingly.

Just got this add on myself and did a flight from LIRF in to LEPA last night. Do this add on fix the lighting at night as well, because I think I never had that nice and dark sky..? It was stormy conditions over Menorca but I could only see the clouds briefly light up as the lightning flashed around me. Between the lightning flashes I could see just about nothing. Loved it. Really nice!

Hi Richard,

There is a slight night tweak as EF default.

Glad you're enjoying, thanks for your support!

So finally turning on the storm lights serves a purpose.

I remember that I witnessed something comparable in real life once. I was on vacation in Switzerland during late winter. One of the evenings there was some sheet lightning going on. It was  dark and foggy and there was snow all around. The white out of the flahes was so strong that it made you wince everytime. It was like a primal reaction you had no control over.

And the funny thing is that we weren't scared, yet we ducked without being able to control ourselves. A very strange sensation.

Sounds like an exciting flight..

I remember landing in Anchorage, Alaska years ago and the cross wind was blowing the plane (757) off the snow covered runway before he could slow it down. By the third landing attempt he just slammed it on the tarmac with full brake and reverse thrust engaged before even settling down. Scary... but it worked.

Hey guys,  I actually am planning to buy EF with SF(I just bought it like 3 days ago from simmarket).

I have a unique setup - can I use the app into two window systems on the SAME one machine.  One partition has Prepar3d v4 and other has FSX-SE.

Planning to install EF+SF (more so SF) in one location and will the binary work from the installation location from one windows system to another (technically the hardware is same one pc).

That way I can save 30gb or else I will have to make 2 installs on the same pc and use up to 60gb of data for dual installations.

If it is confusing, let me know.
