May 7, 20197 yr Is it needed to install v4.5 to prepare for the Hotfix... or can I stay on 4.4 then apply the future patch?

May 7, 20197 yr I have written a lot about this subject within the P3D Forums and especially in the AVSIM FSX Configuration Guide. You install FSX/P3D, keep the sliders as Lockheed Martin set as your default, select a default aircraft like the F35, go to KLAS on R/W 26R. Now look at your FPS, in VC mode and in external mode. It should be well over 300 fps (maybe a little less depending on the system). Now, install an addon, say an FSDT/Flightbeam airport. Do not change any of the default settings. Run the scenario again and you will suddenly lose around 250 fps. It is dramatic. Add even more addons and the sim goes down further as addon developers have a mission to sell their products for as much as they can so they throw in a lot of eye-candy. I do not blame them for this but they must actively keep monitoring the updates to the simulator they have their products made for and ensure it continues to run at optimum performance. An add-on developer would have issues selling a product without the eye-candy or resolutions much better than the default. FTX/Orbx is one of those add-on developers and their products are awesome and very popular with the flight simulation community. There are other add-on developers who have not upgraded when P3D upgrades and they need to do it. FTX/Orbx seems more interested in X-Plane these days and I'm not sure there is anyone trying to update any of their products. They did not even when X-Plane was around and just set up ways to make the products compatible when another add-on was not compatible. I remember when P3D released a new version around 4.1 or 4.2. Suddenly every Carenado aircraft was seeing crashes. Carenado came back and stated LM techs found the problem and will issue a fix in the next Version. So, P3D techs are not all saints and not guilty of making mistakes. But, in this case, it was found early that anyone owning an FTX/Orbx product were suffering performance issues. I do not have Orbx products installed in P3D and simply use MSE only as the imagery products have improved considerably over the years. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! My favorite bug ever is in p3d 4.0 and 4.1 your sim freaked out if you had more than 34 addon xmls They say "use this xml system instead of the scenery cfg!" but nobody ever tested it having more than 34 addons!
