Yes Windows 10 is a deal breaker and competition is a bad thing !!!!!

I should imagine that MS probably have a bit more up their sleeve than using what they are making as purely a flight simulator. With a realistically generated 3D world as a base for things they could produce, there are all kinds of possibilities for what else they can do with it. I wouldn't mind betting this is at the core of why they're going for this. Think Google Earth style stuff for online address enquiries, VR for surveying, property development and the like, tourism promos and so on. Diversity such as that could make it a goer which did not have to rely solely on the revenue gained from sales of flight sim DLC.

It worked for me last night - Depending on your email provider check the junk / spam folder. If you use Google Mail then it may have ended up in the "Promotions" tab.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

It would be very nice if this new sim was backwards compatible with the previous SDKs, but I highly suspect it won't be.

This may sound harsh, but isnt any sort of backwards compatibility an indication of older stuff still being used?  We have backwards compatible sims now that just keep getting patch work done.  We need a fresh new sim that is mostly if not entirely from scratch with a powerful engine behind it.  Having to buy new dlc or addons sounds daunting and expensive, but I think its the only way forward to truly having a brand new sim.

Agreed, only problem is we could then be looking at a very, very long time before we see stuff from FSLabs, PMDG, etc, who create the addons that actually keep the sim alive.

This new sim might have the best eye candy we've ever seen, but that'll get boring after 10 minutes if all  you have is a default plane.

Without quality addons, this sim will die.

Absolutely! Which is why I was intrigued by the statement they have been working with some of the best developers in the business or something to that effect.  Figured this mustve been a secret project in the making for many years now.

You guys are giving too much value to few hundred flight sim enthusiasts like we are. Do you really think a billion dollar company cares about few hundred people? And DaWu, you seem to be clueless about the market behind  gaming on console, but even on PC.

It isn't bad at all. New engines are running on both platforms, especially when it's about Microsoft.
And about the xbox not being powerful enough, well, the new one coming in 2020 can run games at 8k res at 120fps apparently, has a SSD and fast memory.

Yeah native 8K at high refresh rate will not happen on a console. A $2000 can not run games at 8K neither will a $500 console.

Why are people so negative. Change might actually be a good thing.
