June 10, 20196 yr I should imagine that MS probably have a bit more up their sleeve than using what they are making as purely a flight simulator. With a realistically generated 3D world as a base for things they could produce, there are all kinds of possibilities for what else they can do with it. I wouldn't mind betting this is at the core of why they're going for this. Think Google Earth style stuff for online address enquiries, VR for surveying, property development and the like, tourism promos and so on. New engines are running on both platforms, especially when it's about Microsoft. And about the xbox not being powerful enough, well, the new one coming in 2020 can run games at 8k res at 120fps apparently, has a SSD and fast memory. Yeah native 8K at high refresh rate will not happen on a console. A $2000 can not run games at 8K neither will a $500 console.
