August 9, 20196 yr Hi all, Yesterday I was flying from KVPS (Eglin AFB) to KSEM (Craig). I've been flying a lot in the KVPS area and at this time of the year, there are some thunderstorms but this is the first time I see such a black cloud. So I deverted to see the thing from close, thinking that such an opportunity does not happen everyday. Rain and lighting come into play. Once in the cloud, it is like any dense cloud. At last, I'm out and safe... ... resuming my navigation to KSEM. Guys, have you ever seen such a black cloud and so close to the ground? Is it a default P3D cloud or a REX Sky Force 3D cloud? FS2024
August 9, 20196 yr Actual rain shafts are usually about as you imagine, just columns of water that varies with density not color. Dan Downs KCRP

August 9, 20196 yr Author Thank you all for your inputs. @scottb613 I used to have Enshade + Envtex but uninstalled them to keep only Sky Force. But it is possible that there are some leftovers... I'lll see. If it happens again, I might follow Poppet's tutorial. FS2024
August 9, 20196 yr Author I am always reluctant to delete/reconstruct but finally I suspect that there are some Envshade left-overs so I followed Poppet's tutorial. Only time will tell if I get those black clouds again (if it was a shader issue). But right now, I am under the impression that the light is a little bit brighter but maybe it is a placebo 😊 FS2024
August 9, 20196 yr Author So I deleted my shaders folders... It seems that it is not related to shaders. Maybe it is normal. I've just started a flight at KVPS with live weather (ASP4) and this is what I get: FS2024
August 9, 20196 yr Hi Tony, I’ve used ASP4/ASCA/ENVSHADE/ENVTEX for years - I haven’t seen that - I hope it’s not normal feature of some other product - it detracts from the scene... I have seen black clouds before - usually after doing a P3D upgrade and not purging the shaders - the purge did fix it in my instance... Best of luck - sorry it didn’t help... I think it's useful to know how to do that. Even if it did not solve my issue (if it is an issue). I'll see if that happens again, especially on a sunny day. In that case I would be concerned. FS2024
August 9, 20196 yr In real life, yes. In a Sim, not yet. I9 12900K @5.2Ghz 64 GB DDR4, RTX 4090, Win 11 Pro, 15 TB on 5 SSD's
August 9, 20196 yr Yup, coming out of New Orleans when they had that tropical storm around June 21st. Running Skyforce 3D also along with ASP4. Edited August 9, 20196 yr by skully
