Is skidding in rain confirmed?

Never experienced skidding IRL on a wet/snow covered or icy runway...but I never had the anti skid fail 😉

But it could, I'm sure the smaller planes, tail daggers, to not have anti skid protection. Not everyone Flys Boeing & 'busses

Oh man, I have on my landing roll.  Brakes not very effective.  Real life GA airplane.

Also know of an incident where an A320 slid off the runway in North Dakota.

On smaller planes it's way easier to judge if/when the wheels lock up. It's e.g. impossile in a C-152 not to notice when the wheels lock up.

Like a normal road, that's contoured to prevent water from pooling in the middle, so it runs off the sides, reventing skidding and aquaplaning.

Hi, 20+ years working in photogrammetry/land surveying in support of civil engineering projects (highways, airports, etc) here.

What we are talking about in this subsection is called "superelevation". It is the grading/shaping of paved surfaces to enhance the runoff of standing water.

Runways are, most definitely, superelevated. They "crown" in the center and slope to the edges. That said, a crown of 6 inches across 150 or 200 feet runway width is functionally invisible. Imagine requiring the visibility of all roadside curbs including their elevation (approx 6-8 inches) in the sim.

Superelevation exists on almost all runways and most, but not all taxiways. Not sure if it is significant enough to model.

Hope this helps.....

It seems to me we are getting away from the runway issue to tackle another important deficiency of the FS franchise so far : the friction issue which would deserve a new thread, don’t you think ?

It's actually still about runways.. How many threads do we need?

Except when we're on taxiways constructed of a different material, (e.g. concrete compared to asphalt) and then there's the aprons. Not forgetting grass, gravel, dirt, water, compacted ice and snow surfaces...

This is interesting but not worthy of considering it will be in FS2020. We can expect to get sloped runways that follow the land contours. Not even XP has the above. Superelevation and water runoff could be FS2030!

Absolutely ! This is not runway related, we have the same problem on taxiways and aprons. We have known for quite some time now that the FS ground friction engine needs some rehab. And that starts when we roll an aircraft into the taxi phase even if the ground is dry. And it is not adapted to various surfacing and, more annoying, to weather conditions.

Biggies Confirmed: PC / non subscription version, Xbox version!, Flight Sim store, Grass, Volumetric Clouds (probably), HDR/4k, Sloped/Curved runways, Wild life, Multiplayer mode (probably), Aircraft listed from trailer.

Those clouds are volumetric without a doubt. We don't even need them to confirm multiplayer.

It's not certain until confirmed. Microsoft have a history of playing tricks on simmers.
