September 3, 20196 yr Looking for the best Twin Otter or my Hanger... What's the consensus on all available payware options right now? MilViz DHC-3T Turbo Otter or Aerosoft or any others out there? Thanks! Chris Camp
September 3, 20196 yr The DHC-3 is a single engine Otter. The only Twin Otter (DHC-6) that I'm aware of which works in P3Dv4 is the Aerosoft version, and it doesn't allow integration of any of the popular Garmin add-on gauges into its VC panel, so it strikes me as a pretty underwhelming option. Having to run gauges in popup windows is so FS2002. September 3, 20196 yr If I remember correctly aerosoft is planning an update of the twin otter for p3dv4. It’s already compatible but the update would bring in some of v4.4+ features like PBR. Don’t know if they would include a setting to automatically integrate the garmin from rxp or flight1.

September 4, 20196 yr With Berts mod the AS is more than adequate. But I hear they are working on an updated version.

Could be a total bust like MS Flight was and they could be getting sales in the interim while P3D continues to receive updates and advance the hobby... Even if the new MSFS is the "Bees Knees" I will wait a year or two to start getting into it as it will take at least that long for all the add-on developers to start releasing their products... Have no interest in stock MS A/C after being spoiled by PMDG and A2A...!!! Totally lacking a detailed "Study" level Twin Otter for P3Dv4 right now... Such a fun passenger/cargo A/C for flying into St. Barths and grass strips and can be equipped with ski's and floats as well!!! Edited September 4, 20196 yr by Kilo60 Chris Camp
September 4, 20196 yr No reason to hold off.. as mentioned above, the Aerosoft Twotter is very nice, as-is Bert

Nobody will deny that the stock engine model falls short. Your comments about the flaps appear to be hypothetical, I can't tell if you actually have the Twin Otter Extended but I've always thought it behaved more or less as expected under flaps. Your comments about the flaps appear to be hypothetical, I can't tell if you actually have the Twin Otter Extended but I've always thought it behaved more or less as expected under flaps. I do have it, and all of its predecessors going as far back as the Lago version before Mathias Kok went over to Aerosoft. The real-world Otters have a flap-trim interconnect that keeps the airplane close to trimmed when flaps are added...the lack of that feature is especially noticeable when dropping full flaps for a short-field approach. The Aerosoft Twin Otter isn't horrible, but neither is it exceptional, and certainly not "study-level" if only for the problematic stock turbine simulation and the somewhat anemic sounds. But, that said, it's the only game in town for P3Dv4, so if you're chomping at the bit for a Twotter, all roads lead there at the moment.
