I think the A380 was always a performance problem with all the screens and its high poly count. Maybe now with a modern engine, we will finally see it take to the virtual skies...

Again it`s bit like saying why bother have a Vulcan bomber in flight as an addon they went donkey`s years ago but some users have them, it`s fair to say if an aircraft is not in the sim someone will make it happen in an addon.

So the conclusion of this thread is if has not got the aircraft of your choice it`s a deal breaker OK.

Who even said that? Being disappointed at the lack of one's favorite craft and considering it a deal breaker are totally different things, miles apart.

I personally wouldn't be disappointed if the new Flight Simulator included all the aircraft FS X had initially. Hopefully they will be highly upgraded which I suspect will be the case.

I don't know how I missed that, so we will have good water physics since it will come with an Icon A5 and make way for other float planes. I am hoping they have a float version of the X-Cub, but I am just happy to have the X-Cub. I can speculate or hope we get aircraft. But I am happy with whatever they provide on release, and hope maybe down the road they add to them, once they know what 3rd party developers are working on. Of course they can have their version and a 3rd party developer theirs too 🙂 I am really excited about the TBM too, anyone know the model possibly? The video with the 2 TBM's flying in the initial release video is sweet. And it looks like multiplayer too? Which plane is that aerobatic one in the very first video?

Woo!  Some of the FSX default aircraft were pretty... pedestrian... probably due to being FS9 vintage.  Or earlier.  Does anyone have more information on that?

The aircraft in Microsoft Flight were quite good.  Whatever we get in MSFS should be of that quality or higher.  I'm just hoping for a good selection of aircraft, and at least FSX's selection was good.

It would not break my heart if several third party developers were already working on new aircraft just for MSFS and had them ready at or shortly after release of the new sim.  This may actually be the case.

They will need to make a splash with the initial fleet of aircraft, because a large percentage of users may never get past that into later payware, or even free add-ons. 

An interesting statistic that may be relevant, is that the current live/automated survey of XP11 users shows that 58.6% of users are flying the default aircraft shipped with the sim.

Only 41.4% are flying 3rd party aircraft. That shocked me when I first saw it, but we have to realize that there are many who dip their toes only a little into the water, and don't go deeper into full flight sim enthusiast territory.

I'm sure that will be the case with many of the Xbox users encountering MSFS for the first time as well. So the default stable of MSFS aircraft needs to be good. Not PMDG study sim level, because the XP11 default aircraft aren't there either, and don't compare with the best 3rd party aircraft. But good enough to stand comparison with other current sims for default and free aircraft models.

I just have to believe that after 13 years and all the tech improvements, we're going to get a great hangar.

I flew stock FSX for four years before I bought my first payware aircraft, and I had never added any freeware either.  This was a special aircraft to me, the Cessna 337, which was the only plastic model I could find at the time to help visualize what the aircraft was doing when I was taking lessons.  I decided I liked it.

I had no idea how much better the payware aircraft could be, and I bought several after that first one.  Default MSFS aircraft will probably be good enough that people won't actually need third party aircraft.

Good enough in terms of flight model and systems modeling maybe, but we all have our favorite specific aircraft models.

Eventually, if not in the default stable, I need a Pilatus PC-12, a Pilatus PC-6 Porter, a DHC-2 Beaver, a DHC-6 Twin Otter, a DC-3, a Grumman Goose, and a few modern twin engine helicopters. I have good models of all of those except the PC-6 (and one is pending) in my current sim.

Chances are slim that any of those will be in the default MSFS aircraft, but there will be a similar one or two like the TBM for the PC-12. I imagine the list would be different for airliner sim pilots, I don't fly those.

I'm willing to wait a few years for the MSFS hangar to be filled out with 3rd party aircraft, but I don't see the default aircraft meeting my needs. That's never been the case for many of us using all these different versions of flight sims over the years. YMMV, of course.

A large percentage of new users won't have favorite specific aircraft models.  As long as the default selection is better than XPlane's it'll all be good.

I would have thought the default aircraft number of users would have been higher,  as shown by the stat's the Cessna and the 737-800 are number one I think. And also, the Zibo is considered a 3rd party right, and it is FREE. XP-11 has a lot of freeware aircraft people like. Not study level, but that is the Avsim crowd for the most part,study level, and that does not represent most users. I think, and could be wrong, the majority of flight simmer's are casual players.It's also why MSFS needs a really good multiplayer, missions, etc... to keep their interest, so they can have fun.This includes me also.

What's one of the first thing's, if the scenery stuff is as good or better than it looks, that people are going to do when they buy the game. Fly over their house 🙂 At their local airports, in their city or area they live in, using probably the Cessna 172 ( it has one right? ) or X-Cub, or something low and slow. Yes and some will fly over their house in a jet. They are also gonna fly that Icon A5 on the water too, as I figure there will be a mission or tutorial using it about how to fly, similar to MS Flight!

And they could also sneak some new default aircraft in the future after years of being released to us right? Maybe a Christmas present once in awhile 🙂 Yeah right, now I am dreaming!
