He was a very active member here years ago, I used to argue a lot with him when I was fixated with XP and flight models, nowadays my point of view has changed a lot and I think I would agree with him on most sim related issues.

Came to my mind because of the upcoming MFS, I think he would have loved it, and maybe he would have also loved VR.

But it seems no news of him for years?

"Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

Didn't he kind of get fed up with the partisanship? (if my memory is correct)

I remember Larry,he was from Salt Lake City, and had a Vans RV8. He was always disputing the accuracy of X-planes flight model, and I agreed with that assessment... Hope he is well.

I forgot about him as well. Wonder where he’s been lately.

Come to think of another guy that was active and vanished was a guy who went by CoolP. He posted like crazy and then just vanished.

Asked about this same subject a couple times already here at the forums...

I remember I was usually at he's side on those "overdone torque" discussions with XP aficionados who thought X-Plane did it "Perectly" as Austin pointed out whenever we asked him to review his modeling of torque effects...

Larry always used the same sentence, or pretty much the same, mostly including a reference to his wife flying with him 🙂 which used to irritate the XP fans  quite a lot...

I was with him, since the beginning, because my various RL experiences on various GA aircraft prertty much agreed with what he always repeated - that the prop effects manifestaded a lot more in yaw / sideslip, requiring rudder and not that stupid amount of aileron trim that XP used to require.

Torque ( overdone ) model was introduced with fanfare by Austin somwhere along the XP9 cycle. As usual whenever ( still these days ) he makes announcements of "new" features I think to myself when I read it - Heck? But, in this "ultra realistic" simulator wasn't after all this being simulated already ?

Murmur solved it with distinction! after years of research 🙂, by demonstrating that torque was actually being calculated twice - engine + prop...

I remember checking back in these forums after being gone for a few years and I think one of the first posts I saw was Larry basically saying farewell.

Which member had the Beech Debonair? I thought it was Larry, but now that it was mentioned, I do recall that he had the RV.

Geoff Applegate. He moved to CA I believe shortly after the Detroit Symphony was fired en-masse during their strike. He was their 1st Violin.

I do not know how anyone can follow a member anymore.  Some members are changing their display name constantly.  Some members do not sign in anymore and just monitor the site as a guest (641 right now).  LAdamson's profile indicates he last visited AVSIM in 2017.  I suspect anyone can contact a missing member to see how they are doing by sending them a PM.  They may respond...

This thread drove to the Fly! Forum in the very early 2000 for a little nostalgia. It was the first forum I was a participant to. Larry Adamson was already here  but so many names have vanished from the radar screen ! Who remember DSanberg a pioneer in bringing real weather to a sim with Infometar or a great Avsim mod called Ken Salter ?
