December 11, 20196 yr Ok, but if you were flying in the alpha right now, where would you want to see?
December 11, 20196 yr Author My testing would be exploring my home airport of course with Cessna 172 with steam gauges. Then proceed to open every airport & explore all I have flown to and am familiar with. I would also of course see my home area and other areas I know at ground level and different altitudes. Next I would try altitude and weather combinations with takeoff and landing to make sure handling and performance are close to accurate given different density altitudes and weather/wind conditions. I would then proceed with a real flight with flight planning from before sunrise along with different weather enroute with 3 legs and the longest leg being at least 100nm and check the smoothness/immersion/realtime effects. From here I would proceed to check the harder flying areas like Courchuvel LFLJ / SABA TNCS etc. Now is the time to check all the other aircraft and their systems/programmability/functionality/startup shutdown procedures/checklists. Much more after this as well. I've been quiet because it's the pre-holiday rush - I'm trying to jam out a full month's worth of work in three weeks. About alpha testing - I'll answer in general terms, since I'm going to respect the NDA beyond my earlier statements, already part of the public record, that I'm a tester. My feelings about participating in the test are mixed. On the one hand, I anticipate it'll be exciting to see the work-in-progress version. On the other hand, time spent on testing means time I won't have available to enjoy flying my favorite aircraft in finished, polished P3D v4. My time for simming is limited, so that's a tradeoff. I also expect the testing process to involve more work than enjoyment - if it doesn't involve work, it won't be useful. That, by the way, summarizes my experience with every software test I've been a part of. Not complaining, mind you, I'm happy to be involved. But that's my state of mind. Will continue to join in general conversations here. Will not be saying anything about the test software or the testing process. Hope that helps. December 11, 20196 yr I think I'll end up using the alpha to search for proof of aliens on the planet, and maybe testing the new flight model.

December 11, 20196 yr Do we know when we find out if we have been accepted into the tech alpha 2 branch? I can't find that info on the roadmap.

However, it says that a moderator has to manually approve my account. Let's see how this goes... 1 hour ago, Grale said: Do we know when we find out if we have been accepted into the tech alpha 2 branch? I can't find that info on the roadmap. No, but we'll likely find out tomorrow when registration ends.

Seemingly exactly as expected. https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/e9apu7/when_you_see_that_people_are_playing_techalpha1/ Quote x6ftundx you aren't missing anything except headaches and lots of CTD catpace is the fps good ? kaiprt So the usual? x6ftundx yepo. it's sad because people think they get in and it's going to be a great game and then their are constraints and things that aren't even working yet. Alpha means Alpha and most people don't know what that means in a development progression. TogaPower Exactly this. Most people seem to think they’re getting brand new copies of the game they’ve all been waiting for and don’t understand that going through the initial hurdles and reporting bugs is crucial to the final build being good.
