Where to find the snow?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys.  I like to fly in the snow, and I like to use ActiveSky.  Yes i realize I can manually set snow, but I generally like to use real world weather.  Most of my flying is in the US.  Though I have scenery for Edmonton, YYZ, and YUL.  Also have the usual suspects.  DEN,SLC,BOS,ORD,MSP,JAC,LGA,JFK,PHL,DTW.  I am considering the new orbx Gothenburg to help increase the odds I have somewhere to fly in the snow.  I don't mind doing fake flights like BOS-Gothenburg.  But am I overlooking any obvious snowy airports with high quality scenery for P3DV4?

Thanks. DG

Bring up weather.com, look at the map, and see where it is snowing.

Yeah I do that all the time on my radar app.  Lately I've just been unlucky.  Since I fly on VATSIM most of the time, it's important for me to have real world weather.

In ActiveSky select Search and choose 'snow' in PreciType. You will get all airports with reported snow.

Definitely not in MSFS 2020...!!!

Sorry couldn’t resist...

Lol!

May check Bozeman. I only fly airliners. So the small ga ones won’t work. I’m really looking hard at the new orbx Sweden airport too

thanks all.  Of course it always snows in places I don't have the scenery.  Or in the places I do when I can't fly.

FWIW, the only airport on my list that doesn't get jet airline traffic was TVL. All the rest are served by a combo of DAL, UAL, ASA and AAL.  I think SUN, WYS, TEX and maybe IDA only see regional jets, but the others all see mainline airline service.
