Coronavirus could delay MSFS

There is little scientific or clinical logic to closing down schools too early in this situation.'  By closing schools at an early stage it guarantees that children will be roaming around, mixing with others, including elderly people, to a greater extent than if they were in school.

with all respect but i think your view is wrong, its about acting as fast as possible now.

Too early exist only if children are allready infected, but closing schools is to prevent exsactly this,

they not mixing with others at home compared to the time spend at school.

The children are also informed how they should behave in the coming weeks, trust me 99% have no interest in partys now.

Being informed is vital to making good decisions and making justified conclusions. I'm a molecular microbiologist with about 30 years research experience and run a biomedical sciences course at a top UK university, and even I've had to do careful research and give a lot of thought on what are the best approaches to this. Some of the best sources of information I've found are;

https://www.jhsph.edu/podcasts/public-health-on-call/  - quite accesible to the non-specialist

quite technical but the first couple of talks are fairly accessible.

https://www.abundance.org/coronavirus-faqs-by-dr-megan-murray-harvard-infectious-disease-specialist/?fbclid=IwAR1QlA6oMJQmoPzAJ_p97tVf0zUj49Hai1lM_tAbiFJ89K4iXKzI05FJ7nM

https://samharris.org/podcasts/191-early-thoughts-pandemic/ - Sam's usually a bit alarmist, but his interviewee has some good information.

Take the evening off from forum surfing, listen and read, then digest.

Did you let your grandparents leave their house during last years flu season? Influenza killed 57,000+ Americans last year.

The death rate from Corona is much, much higher than flu.  Huge difference.

"The death rate from seasonal flu is typically around 0.1% in the U.S., according to The New York Times.

The death rate for COVID-19 appears to be higher than that of the flu.

In the study published Feb. 18 in the China CDC Weekly, researchers found a death rate from COVID-19 to be around 2.3% in mainland China. Another study of about 1,100 hospitalized patients in China, published Feb. 28 in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that the overall death rate was slightly lower, around 1.4%.  "

Your first link is GoDaddy.com website.  Hardly reliable.

I don't know why you are posting the NCBI link.  That may mean less were infected in China where the test was done.  But then that means the mortality rate is higher than reported, since less actually had it.  And we already had reason to not trust the numbers from China anyway.

Please stop posting it is a hoax.

This topic is nearing a shutdown if you won't keep political statements out.  Politicians aren't doctors and are making statements to make themselves look good.  Let's ignore them in this topic.

The US isn't the entire world.

It's incredibly difficult to get so many of my fellow Americans to understand this.

I've been embarrassed as an American since I was twelve years old and my parents and I moved to Tehran, Iran back in the early sixties. Prior to us departing from the U.S. the State Department asked (really required!) us to read "The Ugly American," a 1958 political novel by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer.

After settling into our new host country, I got to witness first hand just how insular, arrogant, and xenophobic many of my fellow classmates and their parents were. I made it a point to make as many new friends with the Iranians as I could, and learn Farsi as quickly as possible. This was helped by a youngster about my same age who quickly became my best friend. He was an Iraqi Jew who's family had emigrated to Iran back around 1958 to escape the violence and pogroms rampant in Iraq at the time.

As it happened, my parents sponsored both Morris and his older sister so they could emigrate to the U.S. just before my dad was reassigned to Washington D.C. to the FAA office in 1966. They both eventually became citizens and were able to bring their parents to the U.S. just a few months before the Islamic Revolution. Morris remains my best friend, although we don't get to visit much since I moved from deep south Texas to Indiana...

We have a WORLD CLASS, autocratic, fully polarized disinformation bubble here in the US right now.

People that think this is a worldwide hoax "by the democrats" need to have brain examinations.

The only thing America is "the best at" right now is "stupidity".

(I say this, again, as an American)

+1

The more sad thing is, that it doesn't seem to change in the foreseeable future...

This virus, and any other virus for that matter, does not know if you are democrat, republican, socialist, president, senator, if you are from deep Appalachia, New York, Benin, France, Samoa or Japan. It will kill you regardless of your skin color, creed, religion, etc. It's a pandemic worldwide, and it isn't a hoax.
