I plan to spend a lot of time with my head in the clouds. My brother has Coronavirus, confirmed by testing. On 3/26 he almost didn't survive the night. He had extreme trouble breathing and was given a steroid inhaler. He was very weak, had nausea, and other issues that aren't pleasant. As of this update he is feeling much better, and seems he will be fine. Stay safe out there. (Updated 4/6)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought someone was getting nuked. 😉 The cloud issue doesn't worry me at all. From what I've seen, MS/Asobo is doing a great job at making good looking clouds. Yeah, they're showing cumulus and cumulonimbus right now, because those are the most interesting, visually appealing clouds in real life too. That doesn't mean we should assume they're not bothering with stratus/etc, just that they don't look as cool (unless you're a weather geek) either in real life or the sim. And if by some chance the clouds could be improved upon... Well, ActiveSky did some really nifty things with Cloud Art. They even managed to get it to look, in most cases, like you were actually flying through clouds rather than flying at a grey wall that suddenly disappeared before it hit the windshield, and that was a pretty impressive feat considering what they were working with. I have faith that they'll be there to improve things if they need improving. One thing that I've been thinking about, though, is live weather. Yeah, the sim will come with live weather on release day, but so did FSX and eventually that went away as contracts expired. If AS provided live weather for 2020 I'd be tempted to support them now so that they'll still be around when the contracts expire this time. I don't think in the history of gaming that a new release was 100% perfect with 0 glitches. Quite the long shot in reality.
March 4, 20206 yr Author @Bdub22 actually that is 720p reduced into a thumbnail, if I show you that in 4K, you would fall from your chair.

Quite the long shot in reality. Used to happen all the time, because we didn't have the internet and there was no such thing as a post-release patch for an Atari 2600 cartridge. 😉 I remember back in the 80's or 90's when Sierra Online released Space Quest. It was the first time I'd ever encountered a game-breaking bug. There's a part where you have to gamble at a slot machine in order to earn enough money to buy a ship and a droid. The original Apple IIgs release had a bug that made it impossible to ever win a turn at the machine. You had to go into Egghead Software and get them to swap the second floppy with you to get the patched version -- and of course, you had to first find out that this was even an option which was hit or miss pre-internet because you didn't register games back then, so no one knew you owned it. I only found out about it because all the salesgeeks at Egghead knew me and gave me a heads up the next time I stopped in. Before then, and even after then, game developers tested their games very extensively before release because they knew they had one shot to get it right. These days, the testing seems to have fallen a bit more by the wayside because they figure they'll let the early customers be their beta testers and then release patches. Of course it's a bit more complex these days too - there's a lot less going on in Super Breakout than there is in Flight Simulator. 😉 Edited March 4, 20206 yr by eslader Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

March 5, 20206 yr FWIW - don't have a clue what I did other than no cloud stuff in Xvision, disconnected UWXB and here's default scattered cu plus cirrus. This is the Queenstown area of NZ with UHD mesh and a NZ overlay.
March 5, 20206 yr The eariest thing I've every experienced, an early morning in May. Perched on the edge of Sleeping bear dunes, as fog blanketed Lake Michigan. Tendrals of mist reaching between valleys, and wind throwing sand in your face. You look over the edge of the 450 foot drop, you cant judge the distance but you hear the water lapping at the coast, but you cant see it. You feel dizzy from a sense of motion with the fog billowing, your all alone. I hope to experience this from the air.
