would you like to see a picture of my clouds at full screen ?

Martin, no more pictures of the clouds you’ve developed. Once the sim is on the market and you’ve started to develop clouds for it then you’re welcome to post your work here. If you want to post photos of the clouds in the XP forum you can do that as you’ve mentioned that is the sim you develop your planes and clouds for.

You've mentioned that your looking for work so hopefully you’ll gain the attention of a developer you might be interested in collaborating with you.

Thank you.

Cool. I was checking out original FSX. Some FSX clouds, yesterday:

Great shot, no clipping,  excellent!

Based on what we've had In the past, I'll take the clouds in MSFS without any 3rd party add on.

Thank you.

Looking through the released footage and pictures so far, I think Asobo has pretty much brought more to the simulation table than we have had before, but in the end i think they can probably do even better by the time of release.

I would say they have created some pretty spectacular vistas, but that they still lack a certain bit of subtlety like pouring sheets of fog and rain of the type seen in games like red Dead redemption.

Not that I won't be in line with everyone else to buy it, just that being a gamer as well as a simmer, I know what's out there, and that there is still more that can be done.

I Imagine flying through heavy sheets of slanted rain and swirling fog.....

Well...... and probably crashing. 😋

@HiFlyer right those clouds are wonderful and scenery is beautiful indeed, made in RAGE, Rockstar Advanced Studios.

Although RDR2 isn't pulling in live weather and trying to create clouds and effects to match.  Not to mention looking good on ground and the air. But if they can do better, then that would be great.

I think a major challenge with clouds is how they look from the inside.

Yes, RDR2 has some nice clouds indeed. All the weather effects are gorgeous in that game, snow in particular. But I think that MSFS has fantastic clouds as well. Yes, sometimes the thunder clouds seem to be a bit too “cauliflowery” and too dramatic, but in 95% of the screenshots the clouds look great. And let’s not forget, it’s still time for a little tweaking here and there. Even though the clouds in MSFS don’t always look perfectly realistic (mind you some of them do!), for me it’s one of the features I’m looking forward to most.

Plus, the RDR2 clouds look good (I've spent a fair amount of time just standing on a mountain admiring them) but they don't move like a real cloud. They'll skitter across the landscape fine, but the shape remains constant until the weather changes and then they just evaporate. That means they only had to draw a cloud model and then stick it in the sky when needed. Asobo can't do that if they want to simulate actual weather.

It's always been easier to make a pre-rendered model look good than it is to make a realtime-rendered changing model look good, which is why for years video game cutscenes looked much better than the interactive parts of the game.

Especially considering their clouds are being whipped up on the fly based on weather reports, I think Asobo's clouds look fantastic.

That's a time lapse video, the effect of sheets of rain moving in is not as pronounced in real time. if you want to see a similar effect in the new sim you can check out the let it snow video again.

yupp, it is one ***** of an example. Just beautiful. Not sure how it would work if it based on real weather, but visual wise ❤️
