Shall we have an add-on for the Clouds?

 It's scary stuff, but realistic air masses is something I've been advocating as being needed in flight sims for a long time;

Basically an inverted tornado, wet or dry !

One thing I very much look forward in Asobo's sim is the new simulation of the air flow and of the weather. In spite of the excellent work of Active Sky, Rex etc. the P3D/FSX core engine seems to have limited their talent in recreating the basic medium of flight.

Yup, I hope their modeling of air mass movement matches the visuals. After all, pretty pictures are nice and all, but accurate simulation of flight is what a flight simulator should really concentrate on getting right above all. Eye candy, whilst important, should definitely take a backseat compared to that.

Broccoli 😋

Again, it looks more like an atomic bomb, like a better version of Skymaxx. I much prefer what Asobo has done, as it looks more like a natural stucture.  I think they are on point with their atmospheric environment in most respects.

I wish they'd improve their shadow colors.  Some clouds have an ashy grey color (like the downburst) but it seems to me that there should be more blue there (eh?).

Also - compare the color of the baked in shadows with the sim created shadows. Shouldnt they be the same? or at least closer?

I really love the clouds in many of the shots I've seen but I'd rather not see a mix of blue scale clouds with greyscale (or whatever it is) clouds.  Give me mostly blue please.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I'm happy with my volumetric clouds design, the good thing is that the hat is only 6 megabytes and the burst only 250kb.

Add-on?

does this thread feel like some sort of job interview

Yes it does. Lets get the sim released and see where we are, and what needs improving. Then, and only then, it might be nice to see some add-ons that improve things. At the moment it just feels like clutter.

SDK?  Can third parties actually modify these elements? Come back when we know more, and yes, maybe. What you show means nothing outside the sim environment, and it's therefore impossible to determine whether they are better or not.

Edit.  Good work though 😀

It can be hard to make a microburst that doesn't look like an Atom Bomb.  I think the overall look is important.  This one is lit by the sun.

My brother has Coronavirus, confirmed by testing. On 3/26 he almost didn't survive the night.  He had extreme trouble breathing and was given a steroid inhaler.  He was very weak, had nausea, and other issues that aren't pleasant.  As of this update he is feeling much better, and seems he will be fine.  Stay safe out there.  (Updated 4/6)

Nine pages about clouds while we are still in Alpha? Good gracious. You do realize we have other forums right?

Thank you.
