How's your English?

Recommended Posts

I think we should sincerely congratulate Ron Attwood for starting this truly unique topic. It has allowed us all to go on an emotional rollercoaster, towards the end game, while maintaining a diverse and eco friendly sense of purpose. And all without even mentioning the use and misuse of the apostrophe.

Do you use your toe to tow the line?

No, I'd probably use a hook or shackle of some sort.

However if we were to assume the word "toe" rather than "tow" is the correct word to use in the phrase "toe the line", then I would sometimes literally use my toe (if I was lining up to a position on a stage, say), sometimes figuratively (if I was behaving as expected by law or following a set of rules).

Thanks, Oliver!  I'd wear Depends if I wanted to look incontinent!

How does a towhead toe the line?

Absolutely!  A towhead is someone with very light hair, as oppose to me with very little!

The use of text speak in posts is something I really dislike. What r u doing tomoz? ☹️ What???

Originally done when you paid by the letter in SMS messaging but no excuse for it now. Either pure laziness or  those doing it don’t know any different.

Forgive my ignorance, but is a toehead necessarily a person with receding hareline?

Depends on where you wear them.

I particularly enjoy the product reviews on Amazon. The technical German term for a review is "Rezension". But many people insist on "entering their first recession" ("Rezession").

You mean use of foreign words such as quid pro quo? Don't answer that...

What has being incontinent have to do with using "complex foreign words?"

Isn't that the correct term to describe when you are smarter than the others? ... Oh!

A flea and a fly in a flue
Were imprisoned, so what could they do?
Said the fly, "let us flee!"
"Let us fly!" said the flea.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.
