Compare the building heights to the width of the runway in @RudyB24 s shots above. I was only comparing the Google Earth shot to the MSFS shot. and for everyone looking for smaller autogen, XPlane has gone TOO far. XPs autogen is TOO SMALL. June 28, 20205 yr I'll go with @HiFlyer. I don't see much of a difference and the (even though slightly) different angle and the different lighting I think may play a trick on perception. MSFS also uses height data for many buildings so I would think they are correct.

The AI just needs to use "average" tree height, because 95% of the worlds trees are just "average"... The problem is it seems to think "average" trees are 10 storeys tall. June 29, 20205 yr “Or maybe London is not available in 3D in Bing?” “It isn’t.” That’s a pity. MS should have partnered with Google. 🙂 Just a thought. While in many cases competition can bring progress, it often also leads to waste. I mean … how many companies are busy picturing the globe? Google, Apple, Microsoft and probably several others … they all have to acquire satellite data and they all send planes or drones in the air to picture and 3D model entire cities and they drive cars around to create 'street view' ... all separately and on their own. How much money and resources could be saved if they combine their efforts and have one enterprise to 3D model Earth? Always have fun --0-- Flight Sim Navigation

Why spend additional funds, & it will be huge, to satisfy a bunch of gamers/simmers, when you own a global streaming system! Your last sentence: read what you have written, sit back & think about it... companies combining their resources, when they have different markets? Do they need to combine? Not! June 29, 20205 yr Yes I know Bing = Microsoft. You don't consider it waste when three air planes, hired or paid by three different companies, are flying around in a grid to make aerial pictures of a city, while one plane would suffice? Why do we need 73 different worldwide design departments for cars, while we all could drive a black Ford 🙂 ... then the 72 other design departments could put their resources on designing other great things? Sometimes a bit more cooperation between companies can be fruitful and beneficial. Like ... we could have had London in 3D by now. 🙂 Edited June 29, 20205 yr by RudyB24 Always have fun --0-- Flight Sim Navigation
June 29, 20205 yr Nope, different companies have different ideas/targets in collecting data.. Is it a waste when you have different companies providing a car rental business, a car hailing business, Coke not buying out Pepsi,? Why don't toothpaste companies join up? Is it a waste that companies like Google, Mozilla, Brave are spending money developing something similar? Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

June 29, 20205 yr Well ... almost every day I see these trucks in my street. First there is PostNL delivering a packet at one or two addresses. Then there's DPD, then UPC, end then we still have some others (I bet in the USA you see similar things with UPC, Fedex, Amazon and what have you). Then the different supermarkets do their deliveries. Every day 5 or 6 trucks of different companies all visit one or two addresses. In my eyes this is waste ... if they work better together one truck can do the whole street ... I don't call that communism ... I call it save the planet from an excess of CO2. June 29, 20205 yr Would you prefer a single delivery company delivering to a single supermarket? Why have different supermarkets, when one will do? That will save the planet, salaries, employment.... a single car brand.. imagine the Co2 saving there. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
