June 27, 20205 yr Anyways, my point is, of course MSFS is better. You can pick the photos apart, no doubt about that. But it’s still not light years ahead.
June 27, 20205 yr I laugh at all the agnostics of MSFS 2020. It's so superior to current flight sims that it's not even funny just like Lithium battery is so superior to Lead Acid or AGM battery technology. Can't wait to give it a try on my new XBox Series X in November. Seems like your focusing on just the phrasing which your taking out of its original content by the poster a little. Here it is again below. The key part being overall impression. “The overall impression is of a photo, not a CGI screenshot, and it's light years ahead of current consumer desktop flight sims“ Overall impression is what’s important. Even an Aston Martin DB7 has a Ford engine in it. But the overall experience is what matters 😊👍 Edited June 28, 20205 yr by Carts85

Dude how often do you want to repeat this. Keep telling this urself for whatever reason. XP and P3D are dead. Fossils. It’s not lightyears ahead its lightdecades. FS2020 will nuke the existing sims out of existence Lukas Dalton
June 28, 20205 yr Ughh...it’s getting harder and harder to come to Avsim. Pages and pages of meaningless arguing about who’s speculation is correct.

You are comparing XP+Orbx to MSFS which is Not Apples to Apples. The Orbx scenery covers certain regions, and the cost is about 50 dollars, tonnes of Gigabytes and an hour to Download. MSFS scenery is worldwide, 99% color corrected, very few clouds and available and up to date immediately. Even done flights in the middle of Russia or Mongolia and the quality does not fall off. And it's not just that, it's the world environment, proper HDR, procedural grass and 3d clouds and weather effects. X Plane sky is pretty lame and the constant weather redraws is downright annoying, and the developers take forever to fix anything. That is why the technology is light years ahead -> default MSFS to default XP. Greazer. http://youtube.com/c/Greazer

June 28, 20205 yr Well lets agree it's a generation ahead 😛. A new standard is set, the whole principle of an AI generated world to represent reality is unbeatable by anything currently available. Don't think Orbx will or can ever cover the whole world in their 'True Earth' series. How much storage would that even be on a local HD? And don't forget, this new standard is DEFAULT, out of the box! MaVe Creations - FSLTL - Free AI sounds - Giving your airports more atmosphere! www.mavecreations.weebly.com
June 28, 20205 yr We sadly lack any firm definition of what exactly is meant by a 'light year', as used by Ianbourne'. A light-year is a unit of length used to express astronomical distances and measures about 9.46 trillion kilometres or 5.88 trillion miles. As defined by the International Astronomical Union, a light-year is the distance that light travels in vacuum in one Julian year. So, to use 'light year' to compare graphics is simply nonsensical! A better word to use is 'better' Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

June 28, 20205 yr Using 'light-year' is a perfectly valid description of the vast distance between FS and the others. This isn't even subjective at this point. FS is a dynamic, living simulator. The others are static fossils, that require constant CPR just to keep them alive. Bernard
June 28, 20205 yr Erm... It's not quite living yet.. It's birth date has still to be revealed. So, for most of us, not quite alive. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
June 28, 20205 yr I am a diehard P3D guy. I think it's amazing and can talk about it all day. That was until last week, when I experienced MSFS . I'm not a tester P3D/XP buddies, you'd better start preparing yourself...
June 28, 20205 yr It may be natural to focus on details ... but I feel we sometimes tend to forget the bigger picture: we get the whole planet, in 3D, up to individual blades of grass. What a mega project that is! And I wish we can skip all the pointless assumptions. We only know what we get when it's ready or when something is confirmed. These screenshots ... I think them all beautiful. I'm looking forward to release date. Edited June 28, 20205 yr by RudyB24 Always have fun --0-- Flight Sim Navigation
