Still worried about the flight model ... how planes move

Featured Replies

Now to just learn the 'right' way to do things....i've forgotten so much. Made a post in Flight Plans hoping to get better understanding of those. I'm really excited to learn with this sim! I even have more RAM inbound so Ill be up to 32gb for the first time ever, lol.....the little things!

I am totally excited for the new model though. I can't say I understand it as much as some of you but its interesting stuff for sure!

Just out of curiosity do any of you keep logs for your virtual flight time?

Absolutely!

Typical log entry for MSFS:

06/14/2020 13:30 - 15:00 --  1.5  C152 TLPL-TBPB Barbados

I keep time in tenths of hours, logging when I start and exit the simulator.

Totals:

P3Dv2 973.6 hours
P3Dv4 1669.7 hours

Per aircraft:

09/02/2019  C-47           543.1 KADS Addison
09/18/2019  Beaver         508.7 TNCS Saba
03/26/2020  Piper Cub      258.8 F00  Bonham

That is good. Did it in 7h 15m myself and thought that wasn't bad, but four hours is well rapid. When it comes to sims however, I still can't get my computer desk to enter a spin.

Hahahah I suppose lol

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

I log quarters of hours in my log book, dunno about anyone else, just always been the way I've done it. Otherwise if you flew for 45 minutes, there'd be no log entry.

We round everything by hour. For example 1.5h = 1 hour 30 minutes

Well in general a few things come to mind, but what is immediately obvious is he has the settings altered from their most realistic options. If aircraft over-stress (or whatever the actual setting is called) has been turned off then it is probable he has chosen other more unrealistic options as well. That being said the mechanical turbulence seems very realistic in my opinion, although possibly excessive for the time of day (we don't know the weather options though...) Again I think while all this speculation about the sim is certainly entertaining there will be no substitute for actually using it yourself where you can account for all the variables correctly when formulating an impression. Lastly frame rate seems respectable (which is certainly intriguing...) and the scenery looks amazing as always.

You guys log minutes?

Well, in my log book for when I was flying gliders, yes, yes I did. The flying fees at the time were £6.00 per launch (winch only, no aerotow at the club) and £0.30 per minute of flight time. Plenty of 3 and 4 minutes times sadly although that's good for familiarisation with takeoffs, circuits (one at a time lol!) and landings: Come off the winch at 1000 to 1100 - weather not working - join downwind for active runway - land. Maybe repeat again during the day depending upon numbers for dual instruction...

In P3D, your flights are logged automatically. BTW, are they in MSFS?

In addition, I fly almost always with Air Hauler 2 or FS Economy, and there my flights are logged too.

Sorry, that was my knee-jerk reaction, along with the name of a certain troublemaker.

Perhaps moving the offending posts to a new thread would be a good option.
