This sim is the start of a new era and all you read is (not allowed) about "i see a guy with a 2080Ti is not holding 60 FPS with all max setting over NY in 4K..it's terrible!, and now the clouds look bad, Really. Sick to death of the endless nick picking and 90% of it is from people that are not even Alpha/beta testers. This forum is grim reading when people should be overjoyed at this new start in flight sim'ing. I have not flown a GA in years but will enjoy and look forward to really exploring the "real" world in a GA for the first time within this sim. Happy to wait 6 month before the big airliners hopefully start coming out. Will carry on using and enjoying P3Dv5 for my loved airlines, but I have a terrible feeling after doing GA flights the world within v5 is going to look very dated and grim. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism but OMG the balance to that is...let's just say is lacking.....to say the least. I can't wait to begin my new journey of discovery and after watching a video of a GA flying over venice I ask what on earth do you want? It's the "start" and you should be over the moon its happening. Exactly my feelings. Thanks for posting.
July 31, 20205 yr BerndB, I take it you're a pilot yourself and have flown in and out of clouds numerous times, and that's why you can say it doesn't look right? If you're not a pilot, how on earth can you say what it's supposed to look like? Apart from the scenery, the clouds and weather was what really blew me away in the all the videos I have seen. Is it perfect, maybe not, but I have no idea of what could be made better. I do know however that I WON'T be buying any weather addons for MSFS. Jorn Lundtoft I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do. July 31, 20205 yr I have seen one or two clips where there are clouds with that 'cauliflower look' and very dark grey tone which is certainly reminiscent of volcanic eruption ash clouds, but I've seen plenty more clips where it looks great, so I'd agree that maybe there is some fine-tuning to be done, but based on the frequency of seeing these things, I hardly think it is an urgent priority. After all, they've gotta leave a few crumbs for HiFi Simulations to make an add-on for! In all honesty, the cloud depiction is one of the really wow things about all the previews. If your watching youtube videos, the video compression will make clouds look a little different when your flying through them. Perhaps thats what where your referring? Hmmm... It was raining here the other day, so I wanted to see what live weather looked like. My monitor sits next to a window, so I can see the "real" world" simultaneously with the sim. I literally go chills. Everything was exactly the same. From the thickness and color to the quantity and type. I'm telling you right now that it was the closest I've ever seen to a "perfect" recreation. My immediate thoughts were. I have no 3rd party weather engine and no texture or cloud enhancements at all and I've never seen a simulator produce such an accurate representation of what I see out of my window. Final note. The clouds defaulted to "high" when I installed it. They looked very similar to some of the videos and screen shots that I've seen. I do not believe that all of those images were captured using "ultra" which look much much better. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
July 31, 20205 yr Just thought it was a bit ironic when I looked out of the window - it's an absolutely beautiful scorcher of a day here in the UK today. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

July 31, 20205 yr I think the clouds are 96% great. I've seen so many shots (have not yet flown the sim) where the clouds look very good that I certainly dont want to complain (yet) about the few situations that arent right (namely distant towering thunderstorm which are not collections of many small clouds but rather one large dark blue cloud with a bright wispy anvil top) and maybe there should be more blue in general. and then theres wispy cirrus types... but I think they have to consider performance overall as well so - "you can't have everything. where would you put it?"(Steven Wright - the guy who lost a button hole...bought some powdered water but didnt know what to add, etc) | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
July 31, 20205 yr I just hope Team Asobo can stay calm. Arriving home after a long hard day at work finally relaxing, turning the monitor on and then reading something like this here 😅

This is complaining on a high level, the clouds look great from outside, but it does not feel like you're inside of them. Like they aren't dense enough. More like the screen fades to white. Hard to explain. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved
July 31, 20205 yr In my experience, that pretty much is what you get quite a lot of the time when going into clouds - one minute you can see, next minute it is like someone has painted the canopy white. It's perhaps the most shocking when you winch launch up into a cloud base you thought was up maybe a bit higher than it turned out to be when flying a glider. Loss of visibility comes on pretty much instantly, and with no artificial horizon on the panel, the only thing you can do is bang off the tow cable, level off, then open the spoilers til you drop out of the clouds. It's one of the reasons why I always trim ever so slightly nose down on a glider take off. Edited July 31, 20205 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 31, 20205 yr MS could reduced the price of MFS to $19.95 US. MS / ASOBO could update it for free every week for the next 20 years by going up and down every road, back alley, using low level flying and getting super high res satellite imagery to get the location of every tree, plant and building including new buildings and houses in the world. Somebody would still complain that they got the front door colour wrong on their house by making it white and instead of eggshell white. The next complaint will probably be, on so and so plane, on the fifth row of rivets on the left wing, the forth rivet from the the front is one pixel out, this ruins the total flight experience. John C. Edited July 31, 20205 yr by johncott Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.
