I still love my x-plane,  and this video could have been done better but...  It's not that far from the truth.

I would like to see FSX and P3D v4.5/5 vanilla comparison. 

You can make X-plane look similar to MSFS2020 if you don't mind fps of 5.

no you can't. Lighting is the biggest issue in XP11. Even XP fanatic agrees. The planes have all that PBR material but the scenery doesn't.

I said similar. Of course the weather and lighting can't be recreated

I am going to go further that only you are in a TrueEarth Region, it's impossible. The way MSFS draw each building based on what the AI sees is revolutionary in terms of autogen.  This is the part when MSFS is far beyond anything that has ever been seen before. IT's a truly next-gen features. It's not perfect and needs works but the AI is going to get better over time. Hopefully this technology can be licensed. Can you imagine Truck Simulator using AI generated city and road. 

this is a David and Goliath comparison...

the X-Plane dev group is tiny tiny compared to the army on this project, not that MS can't bungle a project but so far it looks like a fan favorite in the works

Define honest.. Well, I think its safe to say MS used an extremely powerful PC to create their preview. And further, there is a TON of free ortho, add-ons, sharers etc. available for XP, so I'd be fine with some of those. But my request, and I'm sure it was pretty clear... a serious attempt to compare the two rather than an obvious joke. Will it be a slaughter?  Probably. But interesting.

This is part of the reason I enjoy the sim and supporting Laminar - Austin is just so enthusiastic and overlflowing with aviation-nerdy knowledge its infectious. All of his videos are brilliant wether its explaining how XP11 calculates lift vectors or reviewing a new yoke.

Totally true. This is a small team forever in the shadow of the juggernaut that is Microsoft and Im fine with that. XP11 will remain my primary sim and secondary will be MSFS (I've uninstalled FSX).

I've never made really friends with X-Plane, but the video, albeit funny, does it a bit injustice. If you install Xvision (before Vulcan came) to get rid of the ugly khaki-grey haze and install ORBX TE GB this is an excellent package, albeit limited to a few selected regions, and you have to pay for the addons, of course.

No doubt woldwide base scenery coverage is the main unique selling point of MSFS.

I actually got hooked up with XP11 since last year and slowly I abounded P3D. What I like about XP11 (not sure if this is the flight model, I am not a real life pilot), when you hand fly aircraft, it feels challenging unlike P3D, if I don't move the joystick, nothing will happen and plane often feels like train landing. Also true, the file management, this is really what I like, copy paste boom you are done, no registry and all that nonsense. Also, wouldn't forget how easy to create a Lua scripts, super easy if you know bit of programming. 

However, one thing I really hate about it and I think many will agree with me, the weather, is one thing I don't get how annoying it could be. I hope XP12 will address these issues, I think Austin is realizing this now.

Sure. This video is for trolling only. But it has some truth at its core. You can make XP look good, but it will never quite reach the overall quality of MSFS.

The only annoying thing are a few deeply invested people who have to constantly spread negativity about MSFS in fear that it's a threat to their favorite sim. Guys, MSFS doesn't make your sim worse, chill. Those are mostly the same which can't cope with constructive criticism themselves.

Agree, they're as sad and annoying as those other people that see any criticism to MFS as a threat, and don't miss a chance to joyfully proclaim that "all MFS competitors are dead!!1!1". 🙂

If topic starter rig struggles to render default x-plane 11 with slider toward the left, he won't get pretty picture in MSFS either . So I'd like to see this video again when MSFS will be released
