It's there, you have to go digging for it.

Options Menu > Developers (at the bottom) enable it and you'll get a black menu bar at the top

Thanks a lot, you saved my day:)

Mainly the documentation.

Yeah, it's pretty sparse in some sections, such as:

Is the SDK only downloadable via the game? I have not found any public download URL so far

Which clearly shows that the higher ups at MS pushed them to release prematurely.

LOL! Your reply clearly shows that you just want to hate on MSFS.

The SDK is there if you know where to look. I have taken off and (crash) landed 5 times already without a single issue. XP11 is still missing features 5 years on. THAT was released (very) prematurely. THIS game was released on time.

There are aircraft, scenery and airports in the Marketplace on day one. Think that happens without an SDK?

There will be additional documentation and lots of updates in the coming months including VR and helicopters. But FS is in the feedback loop now and we are all better off for that, warts and all.

Presumptious, are we?

I'm not interested in "hating" a program. I just hate it when management decides what a release worthy simulator is. I have seen a ton of stuff that to me says that release was premature.

Like entire international airports missing, because the satellite data in Bing was censored and no one having the time to fix this before release.

That is not on the developers, that is on the management at Microsoft.

A missing or unfinished and undocumented SDK is just another symptom.

I have to question the sense of this kind of statement. As a software guy (but never having done paid FS development), I'm eager to get my hands on it in a more polished form. But, I have to be honest with myself. How many more copies of the sim does having a super deeply documented SDK sell? Probably not many.

It's completely understandable that the SDK would be the minimum needed for them to do their own work, and that making it pretty and documented is way on the bottom of the list of priorities. Maybe the very bottom.

Didn't our beloved FSX supposedly also barely have an SDK?

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Which is exactly the reason why this version needed a finished one so badly. These platforms live on 3rd Party and freeware additions.

To be honest, there is alot there at the moment (thankfully) without having to go to a third party to kill your boredom for a long while.  That is one of the major advantages of this sim initially.

The Simconnect.xml is located at: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_XXXXXXXXX\LocalCache

Thanks for this!

Excuse my ignorance though, but where is the Simconnect.dll located?  Would I get that from the SDK Download?  FSUIPC7 requires it

Edit:  Nevermind. Got it.

Is it possible to create liveries with the current SDK? Is anyone here currently working on this?

One this is a new sim.

They may come with something new or not use simconnect (that is all legacy stuff).

ive always thought simmconnect was one of the issues for fsx/p3d   you through too much data down the simconnect pipe you end up woth proformance issues.  but then  what would I know

It's not 24 hours since we accessed the software. So now let's just see what it has to offer.
And Farlis, yes there may be an airport missing here and there. Then you have to settle for the 36000 ++ that are available.
I want to give you some good advice after teaching computer graphics for more than 20 years: Stop hating your computer (and everyone else) every time something goes wrong. Instead, enjoy the good moments where everything just works perfectly. It's healthier for everyone.

Enjoy the availability of an SDK. But it will probably take a while before we learn to use it.
