Windows doesn't let me access the sim executable, so I cannot use NCP to restrict the .ese to half refreshrate. For P3D this works super smooth!

Karl

You just change the refresh rate in ncp. It’s not game specific.  Assuming your monitor supports it

Just testing against reports of major airports being basically unusable due to FPS issues. High-End Preset at 2K. Photogrammetry disabled because sometimes its just fugly. Seems frames could be better, but on the other hand, approx 30fps has been the gold standard for many for quite a while.......

I turned off real traffic when I heard it was a FPS killer but turned it back on for a flight from Vancouver to Seattle. On final descent in to Seattle I dropped to 7 FPS at the absolute lowest and it borked my landing. Up until then I hadn’t had FPS drops lower than 20 in big cities, but that final approach turned my pc in to a slideshow.

Sim is not really 4K ready....... Gonna need to save up for that GTX 3090

Let me guess, you're running it on ultra?

I’m not even at a full 4K resolution either.  My PC isn’t quite top of the line but it’s up there and this descent in to a city with real traffic on only high settings brought it to its knees.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but is there a built in FPS display or are you using a 3rd party piece of software?

I’m using MSI Afterburner. No in game FPS counter as far as I’m aware.

Msi afterburner with Rivatuner. There is also a developer mode fps display available.

If you enable Developer mode, there is an FPS printout option.

Lots of stutters using the gtx1070 here

1080 here, ultra settings. Flew around an island I know I the Caribbean and had one major stutter, but otherwise excellent performance. This was in the 152. But I can imagine flying the Airbus into JFK would be a joke.

With the specs and resolution in my signature I’m generally getting 55-65 outside cities and 40-45 in cities.  Things got much smoother when I enabled hyper threading.

As i notes in another thread here I found that turning on aircraft nameplates drops my FPS by about 15-20 fps (numbers above are without nameplates on).

I’ll add that with hyper threading off my CPU was nearly constantly pegged at 100%, that is no longer the case with it turned on.

Settings preset high, other than terrain vector data, buildings, trees set to ultra. V Sync off.

Wouldn't hyperthreading be enabled by default on most PCs?
