August 19, 20205 yr Once the user review numbers come in for metacritic, that would more or less seal the coffin for FS2020, dead on arrival. Steam reviews have already dug the grave for it. Like it or not, these mass market sites are what matters to Microsoft and Asobo, the hardcore market is small and niche, and its clear that they aren't targeting the hardcore simmers as their primary market. August 19, 20205 yr in the past (years and years ago)forums where there top help ppl with issues, give better insights etc it was all about helping each other, what we have now looks like a cesspool of opinions, and a lot of bashing other ppl. only a handfull of really usefull posts. whats the matter with the gaming communities in general..i really really dotn know. the flights i have done sofar, only ga planes have given me the best immersive flying xperience ever.period.
August 19, 20205 yr In regards to the OP, no - the sim will stand nicely on its own two feet! I don't worry a bit. All the mayhem here will pass, because mostly it doesn't attack the core sim. It attacks the auxillary systems, like installs, peripherals, and the DEFAULT airplanes that aren't studylevel. All will be well in the end, and if it isn't well, it isn't the end. August 19, 20205 yr So far I'm very pleased with the sim. Just enjoyed a thrill ride in the A320 from EGLL to LIRF. Perfect? Nope. Never expected that. Beat my expectations? Yep. My thanks to all who put so much of their effort into the product. Where else could I have purchased the world for 120 bucks!
August 19, 20205 yr I have been playing Flight Simulator ever since the early 80's. Performance and bug issues on existing hardware is nothing new and overtime every generation of sim became very good after being patched up. Heck I remember buying a new PC every 6 to 12 months trying to squeeze every last bit of performance out a new sim. Typically it was not until year 2 or 3 that you started seeing reasonable hardware being able to run the new sim adequately. FS2020 will be no different in this regard! What is a big difference and one thing that is really bothering me is in the past every generation of Flight Simulator was at least playable on all but the oldest of hardware. Yes, you learned quickly that you will have to upgrade or buy new and you had some bugs but they were easily worked around until patched. At least you were able to complete your first flight plans on your new simulator. FS2020 however was the 1st Flight Sim that was DOA out of the box and was not workable even on my slightly older but at least minimum spec machine. I was deeply disappointed in this that I spent $119 on something that does not even work. I no longer have the patience, or the knowledge to work around many existing issues in the sim. A lot of these issues such as needing to program your controller is just pure nonsense for such an expensive piece of software. Now I suppose if you want to customize your controller and add in all the bells and whistles that is one thing but it should work out of the box. Of coarse this is pointless since half of us can't even get it to run. As an investor in FS2020 (I paid money to use it and support it) I expect Asobo to have an immediate press release explaining exactly what they plan to fix and when they plan to have those fixes in place? I am afraid they will just hunker down in a bunker and polish there egos and come up with a lot of excuses on there screw up. FS2020 in its current state has a high probability of becoming abandon ware. I hope not but if its unplayable out of the box that is not a good thing. I don't know where I read it but it was quoted when FS2020 was first announced it was either going to make or break the future of Flight Simulators. I think its early to jump to conclusions but so far its not looking positive!

The autopilot on a Cessna Longitude will not, ever, command a full aileron roll. But that's what it did to me last night. That said, at its core this thing is light years ahead of everything else out there. People need to give Asobo time to fix the bugs before they determine the sim is (and presumably always will be) junk. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light
August 19, 20205 yr Bugs in the planes aren't what I worry about, more about bugs that cannot be fixed by third-party developers. We knew there would be bugs in the planes, there are still bugs in Xplane 11 default planes, maybe not quite as many as this, but almost... Not sure what people expect, I think the only real mistake Microsoft and Asobo made was not getting more third-parties involved in the plane design early on. Also, why did MS/Asobo create SO MANY planes for starting out, that's silly. Make fewer planes good, not mass random planes. I doubt Microsoft will abandon this, but you never know. There is too much conjecture in this forum, just go play your "game" and pretend it's a sim (hehe). Edited August 19, 20205 yr by SceneryFX AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

I think that it is a good thing that simmers like Rob point out the things that they don't like. That way we can verify and things will get fixed but the flagged issues will in no way slow down FS2020. Note - I could be a hard case and point out that I don't like P3D or that other flight sim at all. 🙂 In any case everyone should realize that FS2020 is here to stay (what would replace it) and that we are all part of the MSFS team. That feels good for a change. August 19, 20205 yr What I see it caters to sim fans more then any flight simulator version before on release. But that is perhaps not enough. World is not enough. Never seen such a solid base to improve upon.

August 19, 20205 yr Might be something messed up about flying over north pole, trying to fly from Alaska to Norway by crossing North Pole, I've been in the air a little too long I think, but we'll see. "Insane immersion" in 2020 requires VR. So maybe in a few months. As someone who has used VR only for simming since 2016, it is really weird trying to fly while looking at a monitor - so claustrophobic, and so hard to orientate yourself when you can't look around properly! So for me, it's a massive step back in terms of immersion, still worth it as the sim itself is interesting, new and shiny. 🙂 Oz Sim Rig: MSI RTX3090 Suprim, an old, partly-melted Intel 9900K @ 5GHz+, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster TPR Rudder, Warthog HOTAS, Reverb G2, Prosim 737 cockpit.
