Did you see the real video in comparison to MSFS? I bet you would complain about draw distance in a real flight. Ok, I don't have a beef with X-Plane and I hope the best flight simulator wins for the consumer. Because we all benefit from that. I will say though that even if X-Plane were to match MSFS in graphics one day, as a consumer, I still wouldn't want to spend all that time and money installing orthos. From a cost and storage perspective, the fact that I have to pay for high quality orthos would prevent me from getting X-Plane. And then X-Plane users are saying they have to download sometimes up to 2 TB for orthos which also means they need to buy a hard drive that can support 2 TB. All that money adds up and it's something I don't have to worry about in MSFS. MSFS for me occupies less than 150 GB (and I purchased the Premium Deluxe version), and I never needed to buy a new hard drive to allocate space for it. In addition, MSFS allows me to cache the areas that I like to frequently fly in and that cache is actually small - less than 1 GB for the cities I want to fly. I like how MSFS gives us so much for such a cheap price. MSFS saves me money in buying orthos, and it saves me money in buying a hard disk to store those orthos. Within the flight sim community, MSFS is a really good deal. Edited August 23, 20205 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Now x-plane Ultra msfs object draw distance=med-high x-plane object draw distance (since the guy from the video is using a dynamic lod plugin, you can watch the 2 slider on his upper left corner), and even at its highest, x-plane is appears smoother. Oh btw nice video to show that x-plane's landclass is accurate, some here claimed it to be a fictional world. (Art aside) You are welcome. Sorry but I still can't believe you spotted these two videos to compare the two platforms. X-Plane is hilariously bad lol. Here's another reality check. You know the UI in X-Plane? It wasn't there going back just a couple versions -- like two. I literally sent Austin a dozen or so e-mails, had two phone calls (and more with his support guy) debating the benefits of a UI where the user could set up their flight before (I can't believe I had to argue this) the sim fully loaded. Prior to that when you started X-Plane it would look to see where you left off. Let's say you were flying from Dallas to Salt Lake and decided to call it a night mid-flight (as we've all done countless times). The program would then take several minutes to load and you'd find your Airbus on a grass field in the middle of Colorado. Oh, not what you wanted? Go to settings and change that and then take another several minutes waiting for what you actual wanted to load. That was the mindset. Now people laud the UI it has saying it's better than anything MS has when I based those conversations ON the FSX main menu and why it was better. Go back and look at how they did peripheral setup. You loaded a screen and it had hundreds of small squares on it in a large grid that only an engineer could love. They finally fixed that in version 11 I believe. 11 major versions to get to a usable peripheral screen and people are screaming that this v1 product doesn't clean their winkie for them. August 23, 20205 yr Why create a second account avsim for say same things... All forum plenty topic xplane vs flight simulator, it’s boring. If xplane is better stay with xplane. August 23, 20205 yr @Agrajag Lol, I had no idea. There's a reason why I left the civ flight sim community after FSX fizzled out. Things got weird and super complicated and the barrier to entry for people like me who still love flight and flight sims but don't want to spend more effort than necessary on making things work. That has been the appeal of DCS for me. But I'm glad I'm back. FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub
August 23, 20205 yr @abrams_tankfirst thank you for being a genuine disscussion guy rather than the wannabe funny around here. I totaly agree with you, how easy it is to setup your simulator is improtant for us users and MSFS does indeed look good, IMO though x-plane should not follow the ortho road even if it could, more impressive tech is already avilable. With modern api you have more open doors towards modern graphics to. To the rest that commented to me, again failing to understand the perfrctly explained point, shifting the disccusuion for a personal and un-related manner when you have no knowledge to actually comment in a legitimate way. You all got upvotes, kudos and bye bye!

It's the time and effort. I've been flying X-Plane exclusively since MS left with FSX which means v9, v10 and v11. Ortho4XP is wonderful to have and the guy that did it, Oscar, is awesome, but to be frank, that tool nearly requires a PHD to get working. Countless reams of messages from users trying their best to get it going along with countless videos trying to explain its use and arcane settings. Then you downlad, slowly, the data and often find you need to do it in batches lest you not get your account banned by Google for misusing their servers. Speaking of that, it's understood that you're NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THIS. It's against the terms of those providers, but you do it anyway. Then you've got this data and you need to know how to overlay it and edit your settings in scenery.ini. Put one line in the wrong place and it doesn't work. Put it in another wrong place and you kill something else you spent money on. Then you find out it doesn't seam well and there's NOTHING you can do about it. This is Valhalla? I think not. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle Quadrant, CH Pedals.

Why didn't Microsoft sell us all chips to hook into our brains so we could just live FS like it's actually happening? What these posters forget is the typical consumer. MOST people playing flight sims (of all types) don't even have peripherals. It's not my choice, but there's a reason the mouse is a supported device. Much of the discussion is like arguing the value of a $200 bottle of chambourcin with someone who is fine with a $14 bottle which, by the way, makes far more money than the $200 bottle. Define what a "good wine" is. It's impossible. What people enjoy about this product is that it instantly sparks your imagination because it IMMERSES you in a world you can easily sense as realistic. How someone can argue that it's not realistic enough because X-Plane has the POTENTIAL to be better, is just nuts in my view. MS understood this and I'm willing to bet more people bought FS already than own XP 11. To some, they're all confused or simply don't understand the error of their ways.
