Have all the initial issues been sorted out? I  tried it after the first update and performance was very good with my i7 2600K.

The showstoppers appear to have been resolved with the two hotfixes.  The EA beta is still, well, a beta, and it doesn't look all that great when viewed from the flight levels.  That said, I think MSFS' cottonball clouds with dark shadows on the upper surfaces look equally hokie.  And I've never suffered the insult of cruising through a layer of puffy cumulus clouds at FL410 in P3D...  😉

I'm getting much smoother performance in MSFS than in P3D (and obviously the visuals are at least a generation ahead). Sure, there are still evident performance issues, but there's literally never been a time when there weren't performance issues in P3D (or FSX, for that matter).

And to be clear: the "performance issues" I'm still seeing in MSFS now are mostly that I can't get above 30 fps in airliner cockpits. You may recall that there's something of a cottage industry here at Avsim convinced that 30 fps is all you ever need...because it was often all you were ever going to get in the legacy sims.

@James MSFS looks so much better to the way you had configured your P3D...

And that MSFS seems to use max 4 cores will not help much either.

stop spreading misinformation, please. My octacore is showing even load at EDDF with the 747 (with Core7 doing slightly more lifting.

I currently have no interest in MSFS. Im not going to ride the new flightsim syndrome in beta  again! I am looking forward to the TFDI MD11, the ..

I second that! P3Dv5 and TFDI MD-11. Really looking forward to that. Hopefully the release will be by the end of the year, but lets wait and see.🤩

Just remember that Microsoft abandoned  us when sales went flat. P3D won't do that.

I'm glad some of You are immensely enjoying the MSFS2020 Scenery Simulator.
But I prefer a Flight Simulator like P3D v5, even with those "humongous, horrible and terrible" shortcomings some of You describe. Perhaps in the future MSFS will become a full Simulator.

Lol. I’m sure you’re flying default P3D and enjoying the simulation immersion of all those default aircraft, updated Nav data, live weather, live traffic and updated physics engine. Oh wait...

To suggest P3D is superior simulator is just absurd. How the heck can you simulate flight without a comprehensive  weather and flight model?  You’re conflating P3D with >$1K of third party addons as a capable simulator; default P3D is anything but.

Yes, let’s forget about the three decades of flawless development and support prior to Flight.  Do you think LM is a charity?  In point of fact, they’re the largest weapons manufacturer in the world. I assure you, the moment P3D becomes unprofitable, they’ll Abandon it too.

All my cores are being used. What does that tell you?
Did I install an extra special build that was octacore aware?

Just please refrain from spinning forum posts to hard facts, it doesn't help anyone.

You are comparing different things here. MS is the biggest softwarehouse in the world. So what.....

I dont like these high level speakings without having a clue and probably no detailes about who is what and having wich budgets for wich customers, targets, strategies etc.

I spent years configuring my P3D to look better. It looks way, way better than default. At just the right time of day, at just the right angle, it can look pretty good.

Still doesn’t even hold a candle to MSFS out of the box — even thousands of hours and thousands of dollars later. It looks hopelessly dated. With respect, the difference is so stark it’s not even a matter of taste.

(Enjoy whichever sim you want, of course! But it’s not a matter of how I configured P3D...)

So.. You are a fan* of MSFS, that is fine. Enjoy Your Scenery Simulator.

LOL. default MSFS can't even get the Autopilot to follow a FP route or worst the AP trying to kill you if you blink, or weights, range and performance data for their bussines jets which btw takeoff and climb like space rockets; or keep the battery charged, or porpoise all around while trying to fly straight and level (you actually need barf bags for that), or in some cases change/modify FP once the flight is loaded, or do a DT0 and intercept, or even point the same wind direction arrows in the MFD-PFD, or show useful info in the CDU, or ATC flying You into a mountain, or ATC nagging that your squawk code is not set when actually someone forgot to hook it to a variable, or get the wind right at altitude, or simulate cirrus clouds, or loosing keyboard and mouse inputs, ect. ect. etc. (I can go on and on, and on, but NDA prevents me from that.) <- All this and MORE has been reported since launch.

Btw: You fell way short on Your >$1K calculation. Actually it is somewhere around 3-4K.
In the meantime I will enjoy P3D Flight Simulator with its gazillion addons.

How long did it take since MSFS launch for users to start tweaking and try to fix incomplete/bugged things in MSFS?
A: Less than 2 days.

There is no question MSFS scenery looks fantastic (albeit with some shortcomings), but that does not make it a Flight Simulator for me.

At the end, with MSFS,, You as us will have to spend more than >$1k to make it a full Flight Simulator. Unless of course not if You are amazed with its default airplanes.
