Real Weather .... Is that working for anyone?

I still cannot fathom out why we have tried to re-invent the wheel sometimes and stay with consistent data and a fantastic delivery system ( Activesky )

I'll be buying it again as soon as ActiveSky releases a 2020 version. Which I assume they at some point will, though they've not announced anything about it that I've seen.

All live weather features do work in North America except wind. There is a bug in the sim that prevents wind from being injected at any airport in the US. Wind will always show 225 degrees at 3 knots. Surface and upper winds do work when loading at an airport in the UK. I have had several successful live weather flights in the US with clouds, rain, pressure and temperature, but never any wind other than 225/03

There is another bug that all users need to be aware of. Live weather will only work on initial load at a given airport. If you fully load into a scenario, and then back out to the aircraft selection menu and change to a different aircraft, or different airport, live weather will be completely non-functional when loading back into the scenario after making the change. If you want to select a different aircraft or different airport, and still receive live weather, it is necessary to completely exit from the sim and start over.

Usually works well for me, occasionally doesn’t at all (just defaults to clea4 skies). When it doesn’t it’s always over US. Rebooting the sim usually fixes it.

Sometimes it takes a minute or so to update, but my cloud cover seems to do a fair job at matching live conditions. What I'm lacking is the wind. What is weird is that ATIS reports accurate wind, but it's not being simulated - wind socks are limp and flights are smooth. Now if I manually set the wind, the world and my aircraft behave like I would expect. So I don't know what is going on with wind.

Hasn't worked for me at all as far as accuracy goes. Besides the 225 wind thing. I did a flight out of KLSE yesterday and the weather should have been clear and 35C temp with wind 170/9. MSFS gave me sct012 sct045 sct125 temp of 21 and wind 130/4 in the atis

I really hope they straightened this out as I was hoping not to need another weather engine

Friday night, we're watching a local HS football game in the Birmingham, AL area online.  Have FS2020 running with us at the stadium.   The game was in a lightning delay.   Didn't see the lightning on the sim.

I’ve checked the real world metar for each airport I’ve flown at each time before I started. It has never been accurate. Yesterday I tried to fly at an airport reporting winds 19G15 and when I loaded it and looked at the wind sock they were <= 3 kts. The wind indicator on the airport selector screen showed the same.

All US airports?

All that I’ve tried. (oh misread: every airport I flew in was a US airport except for one in Australia, which had incorrect winds and altimeter as well). Mostly on the west coast, but some in Hawaii, some in the Boston area, etc.

For me weather doesn't work correctly even in Europe, for example today @ my home airport EPKK :

METAR EPKK 261400Z 23023KT 9999 SCT067 26/12 Q1006

in sim in the menu when I will select airport, rwy or stand the wind data and in general flight conditions are as they should be but when I will load the flight surface wind in Cessna with G1000 on PFD is showing like 3kts 😆 hopefully this will be fixed in first patch.

I'm certainly seeing the same at US airports in terms of windspeed. I have had plenty of results with live weather though, at least it seemed to reflect how it looked on radar.

Not seen one issue in Europe as yet.

It works except wind. Some people who has trouble with live weather fix it by running simulator as administrator. For everyone who has issue file a bug to zen desk. This way MSFS team take it to the list of priority items to fix

If the airport was anywhere in the US, you will never get winds above 3 knots. Until this bug is fixed, if you want to see live weather winds in action, load at an airport in the UK.

I know I have to reselect live weather when I go back to the menu to change planes/locations.  It defaults to manual weather every time.  Are we sure people have just not noticed then when reloading back in?  I would check but not at home at the moment.
