September 9, 20205 yr https://gamingbolt.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-will-be-just-as-amazing-on-xbox-one-as-it-is-on-pc-says-developer Quote According to Microsoft Flight Simulator head Jorg Neumann though, the game will be just as impressive on the Xbox One as it is on the PC- and maybe even better in some regards. “We are very confident that the simulator will be just as amazing on Xbox as it is on PC. Some things might even be better,” Neumann told GamingBolt in a recent interview. “Regarding the controller, our intent is to deliver a great experience using any controls you already have, so you can enjoy the experience with a gamepad as well as a mouse and keyboard. We’ll have more to share with you about the Xbox version of the simulator closer to launch.” Microsoft haven’t given any specific details on when we can expect Microsoft Flight Simulator to launch on the Xbox One.

September 9, 20205 yr I think once they smooth out the overall issues and can drill in on focusing on the Xbox's hardware (Something that is harder to do on PC since people have so many configurations vs one or two configurations for console) it will be a fascinating experience. I don't think people will be doing too much in the ways of overly complex flights but GA flights and just tooling around in a big body plane will be something I think quite a few people will enjoy on Xbox.
September 9, 20205 yr Is there a "joystick" that can be used on the Xbox, or do you have to use the Xbox controller for this sim? Stan
September 9, 20205 yr The new X-Box (Series X) will handle MSFS pretty well. It's the first time a real flight sim will be available for console, and it's exciting because the user base will grow. Also, I believe there will be simmers who are fed up with keeping a PC installation and just switch to X-Box. Of course not the die hard simmer, but there is a niche for that, I am also thinking about elder users who just want piece of mind and a sim that will just work out of the (X-)box. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

Stan Thrustmaster had the Hotas One which was officially licensed for the Xbox One which was for Elite Dangerous. Since its so similar to their regular entry level HOTAS I assume they still sell it and make it.

Stan Of course you can connect a joystick. If you will want to is another question, I find the X-Box pad is the best controller for flight sim there has ever been (note I am flying airliners and just use the control stick for take-off and the occasional manual landing), because you can map so many controls to it. I don't even have a keyboard connected because literally everything is on the pad. When simming from the couch on a large TV, this is fantastic. September 9, 20205 yr And sadly this is why, despite the high hopes and general enthusiasm, many of the minor bugs and irritants which can ruin the otherwise good experience we can sometimes have on the PC may never get fixed. I know no company is ever going to admit they botched it, released 6 months too early and charged us £60 to be ongoing beta testers (which in itself only counts if they listen to us) but some nod towards smoothing out the wrinkles would have been appreciated.

Honeycomb and Thrustmaster logos were recently spotted on some "Made for Xbox" marketing from MS recently. This seems to be the biggest hint so far. Currently circumnavigating the world in a mix of Cessna and Piper aircraft. My Default Setup; MSFS, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster Hotas X, TrackIR, Samsung Galaxy Tab, JustFlight Piper Arrow. Took 7 posts to get to the doom and gloom response - a new record I think? Seriously, Asobo has clearly been building this game to work on both PC and Xbox, and have been doing so for a long while. Just because they will be shifting more focus towards completing the Xbox version than before does not mean that they are in any way abandoning the PC version. Most of their money will be gained through purchases of 3rd party addons to the game - they have a very clear incentive to continue to improve both versions. If you feel you made a mistake in purchasing the game too soon, then that's on you. You could have signed up for Xbox Game Pass for $1 and tried out the game - you had options. The Microsoft Game Studios/Xbox leadership and mission is not the same of old - they have made it a clear that they want to be more gamer focused in all aspects. I trust that they will come through on this.
September 9, 20205 yr I got out of console gaming about 20 years ago when I really got in to FS. The only games I played since then are the occasional FPS or city building games like Cities Skylines. I now have a 3yo son, and I 100% know that we'll get an XBox when MSFS and the Series X is released. I'm thinking that a console will be the best way to introduce him to simming. Wife also liked console games when she was younger, so I think we'll get our money's worth out of it. I don't expect it to be like the PC version> I'm sure it will be cool for what it is. Only thing I don't understand is how the benefit works if your purchased MSFS from the MS Store. I know there is a benefit, but I'm not sure what it is or how it works. MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad

They released the Xbox Adaptive Controller just a few years ago that those with disabilities can use to connect hundreds of 3rd party controllers. The release of this was massively impactful to people who cannot use regular controllers, and is a clear indication that MS wants to build an ecosystem where 3rd party accessories are welcome. I am not suggesting that the Adaptive Controller would be the method MS would use to allow MSFS players to connect their peripherals to the Xbox, just that it has been proven out in the past that this is something MS is focused on, and that they clearly have the technology to make it possible.

And not much longer to get the typical word not allowed defence. :) If you read my post properly, you will see I actually remarked the experience is generally good but no one can sit there and postulate MS gave us a game which was exactly ready for prime time. As it happens I'm currently having a rather nice flight in the A320 while I wait for Asobo to fix the Garmin GPS/Autopilot issues. Have a great day...
