Not even the weather depiction?! The MSFS weather engine is far superior to anything we've seen in flight simming and weather has a very large impact on flight.

I'm not a huge fan of the sim in its current state, but even I don't agree with your statement.

Winds 225/03 all the time, weather highly inaccurate.

At least in North America.

Become? It already is. Might be lacking a more complex airliner, but other than that, it works fantastic, with flexible ATC and best-in-class graphics from high altitude.

What part of that includes the FMC on the 747 and, as I just discovered, the A320neo not loading up your flightplan on resuming a saved game?

You see I was quite enjoying flying the aircraft, even thinking it wasn't as bad as people make out, then you get a stupid bug like this which shouldn't even have made it past alpha. Back to square one.

So trying hard not to be negative, but statements like that from MS as shown in the OP just do not make me feel confident anything like this will get fixed anytime soon. And yes, I have Zendesked it in the forlorn hope the problem might get looked at some time this decade.

I cant wait for this to come out on the XB Series X. I want to get the console, its a beast. Will wait months after that to see how MSFS is on it and then make the call on wether to get it on PC or XBSX.

Specs:

CPU 8x Zen 2 Cores at 3.8GHz (3.6GHz with SMT)
GPU 12 TFLOPs, 52 CUs at 1.825GHz, Custom RDNA 2
Die Size 360.45mm2
Process TSMC 7nm Enhanced
Memory 16GB GDDR6
Memory Bandwidth 10GB at 560GB/s, 6GB at 336GB/s
Internal Storage 1TB Custom NVMe SSD
IO Throughput 2.4GB/s (Raw), 4.8GB/s (Compressed)
Expandable Storage 1TB Expansion Card
External Storage USB 3.2 HDD Support
Optical Drive 4K UHD Blu-ray Drive
Performance Target 4K at 60fps - up to 120fps
  • The Xbox Series X will come with a 1TB Custom NVMe SSD at launch - in other words, 1,000 GB.
  • Console can access 2.4 GB/s of data per second - or 4.8GB/s uncompressed

And sadly this is why, despite the high hopes and general enthusiasm, many of the minor bugs and irritants which can ruin the otherwise good experience we can sometimes have on the PC may never get fixed.

I know no company is ever going to admit they botched it, released 6 months too early and charged us £60 to be ongoing beta testers (which in itself only counts if they listen to us) but some nod towards smoothing out the wrinkles would have been appreciated.

Guess you missed the September 3rd update.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024

Another thing I wonder is if add on developers will create things for xbox...

Best case scenario IMO is that people love the sim on xbox and start to see that they can really only expand their hangar and world on PC and then make the switch back to PC. Microsoft keeps their customer base but it forces their hand to continue towards the PC realm of things.

Wishful thinking ....I know.

Wouldn't be surprised if the next iterations of MSFS are going to be console only. PCs are going to become legacy tech - young folks don't even know what a PC even is.

I know!!!!  I mean it's not as if they are trying to simulate flight dynamics of over 20 different machines, Attempt to incorporate real air traffic, realistic ATC, and water dynamics.  It's not like they are simulating movement of ground traffic, airport support staff.  It's not as if they are attempting to simulate organic weather systems that are supposed to act and behave like real weather, let alone go out into the internet and update your weather live.

It's not as if they are taking petabytes of mapping data and trying to convincingly render it into a realistic 3d representation of an area where you actually live, and in some cases model your exact home.

Oh wait.  They are doing that.  But the FMC doesn't retain flight plan data after loading a save flight.   0 stars.....(smh)

Hey Chock:

No one actually paid money for my so-called  "wrong date" - do you see the difference?

Sarcasm is indeed the lowest form of wit.

There's not much point loading the sim with all the above if the bloody FMC not working means you can't save and return to resume a flight later. I actually want to do more than just go "Ooo" and "Aah" at the house where I live...

To all those happy and content with this PC Beta version issued by Microsoft on August 19, 2020:

Would anyone here buy a brand new car with the doughnut spare tire on, and three real tires?

If I was getting the brand new 30,000 car for 20,000 and the only thing wrong was a spare? Sure.  What you get in this sim for $60 would cost how much with the older sims to compare? Yeah it has some bugs, but its 60 bucks.  Adding scenery and weather with other sims would cost more than 60 with the sim its self plus add ons.  Could easily cost double the price of MSFS.

Actually, so as to avoid half-truths, the full quote is:

“Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence” ... Oscar Wilde.

MFS has endless potential, and that is indeed something to await with, at least, a modicum of patience.

Another quote reads:

"Patience is a virtue" ... William Langland; inspired by the original Latin expression "Patience is the greatest virtue."

i7-12700K; GF RTX 3080Ti 12 GB; MSI Z690 MB; 32 GB DDR5 4800Mhz (16x2); 850W 80+ Gold PS; 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD + 2 TB HDD @ 7200 + Kingston 4TB XS2000 USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Ext. SSD (for MSFS & all games); 240 mm liquid cooler; LG 32UD59-B 32" UHD 4K; Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS stick; wired conn. to rtr. (500 Mbps); W11 Pro

Back to the actual topic on hand...I wonder with the new Xbox Series S and X announcements if they will do different graphical scalings for these newer more powerful systems or will it all be geared towards trying to keep it at 30fps on a 4k TV?  Also I wonder what impact Xbox Streaming will have on this...

A beast!  Only To be obsolete once the 30xx series cards get released later this month...  Lol!

Chris Camp

Speaking of sarcasm:

Gee, I thought it was called Flight Simulator:  At FL 37,000, not many man-made landmarks are visible.  Basically, eye candy is mainly for VFR flights, but that's a preference of many simmers, fine and good.  But first, I would like to see all the bugs and flight dynamics fixed in the various FS aircraft:  What exactly was the pre-Beta and Alpha testing for if not to correct all these loose ends BEFORE release.  Then perhaps I will be very impressed with all the "freebee" scenery out there...
