September 20, 20205 yr It used to be these sites paid no attention flight sims when doing benchmarks, and you only had them for popular games. Now most of the big sites include MSFS, and this one is for MSFS only. Interesting because he performs the testing in all sorts of areas and conditions.
September 20, 20205 yr 24% gain, very nice from a card that cost £1200 in the UK to a 3080 at £650. David Murden. September 20, 20205 yr I am not really knowledgeable about hardware at this level. However, I really don't understand when they keep saying it is not 'optimized'? I mean with the exception of a DX12 update possibly next year (probably longer), what exactly can developers do? I know that there was an 'enhancement' this last patch, but that was simply collapsing the LOD bubble at bit, thus a swap for distant objects for FPS, not really an optimization. So does the dev team simply wait until the GPU guys provide a tweak in their drivers and then see it and how it may help this sim? Is that what is meant by 'optimization'? Just curious from folks in the know. CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
September 20, 20205 yr Yes i have seen this vid you need a 4K monitor to make use of the GPU in 1440 no gain in 1080 very little. I have seen a supposed leak benchmark for the 3090 and in games 6-8fps gain over the 3080 in ultra, but i would not trust that we will see next week. September 21, 20205 yr Do not forget the 3080 card uses 3 PCI slots. A 750 Watts or more power supply is recommended. You need a large case, and CPU watercooling system, or will listen to another aircraft from your computer. 3080 is a very good video card, 3090 too (available soon)
September 21, 20205 yr It’s worth pointing out that I have a 2080Ti that I’m running with a 10% overclock - so about 10% more FPS than stock. The new 3080 cards apparently have virtually no over cllocking headroom. So the difference from upgrading would be barely noticeable. Edited September 21, 20205 yr by Virtual-Chris

September 24, 20205 yr Author Looks like some are available now, but not easy. I just ordered a system with one, and it's going to be running in 1440p.

September 24, 20205 yr Can't wait to see the youtube reviews comparing 2080 Ti, 3080 and 3090. At this point I might just try to get a used 2080 Ti assuming a 3080 is impossible to get. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

It’s 10 months old, and has a custom cooling Arctic fan on it that keeps it cooler and lower temp. And quieter.
