Took my first truly immersive level flight in P3D v5.x this morning...and man,  did I miss GSX and all its wonderful immersion level features and visuals.   Nah...P3D ain't ready for the Flight Sim Retirement Home, any time soon.  So many great features, AND...visuals...that MSFS in present form has not eclipsed.  Will be run, side by side.. Glad I didn't, in the MSFS fervor,...delete it. Same for v4.4

Have you tried //42 Immersion packages? another I do recommend for your fun is SLC Cargo. It simulates passengers.. super fun!

• A2A bug smashers
• ChasePlane
• Immersive AI traffic models and liveries
• Night flights that don't bring my PC's FPS down into the teens
• A catalogue of scenery products that covers the entire world (I spent too much!)

This isn't a hate or pile-on of MSFS, there are certain aspects that I love about the new sim (the lighting, undulating runways, photogrammetry cities, ortho covering the entire globe), however, the sensation of flying an aircraft in MSFS at the moment leaves me wanting.

I have ActiveSky, Accu-Feel, RealTurb and some high quality airplanes in my P3D sim. I get a better sensation of flying in P3D than the 'twitchiness' of flying an aircraft in MSFS.

Outside view with wing and engine condensation and SLC throwing issues at you makes the whole sim experience richer.

Yes.. I work in partnership with //42 by the way.. I have built 2 immersion packages with them..

I wonder what happened to q400 immersion for v5. Do you have any idea?

I had P3D uninstalled for almost a year and came back to it a couple months ago (was an Alpha tester for MS).  

Things I missed:

1. Addon airports with AIG AI traffic (w/FSReborn Pro)

2. Functional/realistic aircraft (NGXu, FSL 320)

3. GSX

4. Reliable and accurate HiFi WX 

5. Chaseplane

 

 

MSFS 2020 has great potential in the next 2 years. For now P3D all the way

I'm a GA sim Pilot and have a gorgeous (IMHO) Caribbean Setup in P3D v5. With ORBX, UTX Tropical America & Caribbean, tropical water, HiFi AS, and a ton of payware airports from Bermuda to Barbados, to Panama, to Cancun and Southern Mexico, and Florida.
In winter I will ferry my planes to KHQM and fly all over the Pacific Northwest, Canada, the Fjords and Alaska.
My GA airplane collection, plus my own instruments, the trusty GTN's, and LNM are always reliable and take from point A to point B.
Also love flying all over Germany and South Pacific.

ATM, That is good enough for me, and don't miss MSFS since I can buy it anytime; when it suits my needs. (Used it for almost 8 months, saw my house "kind of" and marveled at its potential)

BTW: I never left.

Funny how views can be different (note that I dont say wrong)

I did some beta testing of a yet to be released P3D airliner earlier today, and was quite disappointed how v5 stacks up against MSFS in visual fidelity. And I have all the works when it comes to visual addons. ORBX global, add on airports, Active Sky, EA enabled etc.

I hope LM releases a solid 5.1 version where EA is further extended.

If only Asobo put 1% of the time they spent on graphics and visuals into avionics and flight dynamics. If they would release a full featured SDK as opposed to just sharing trade secrets with one or two big developers. If only they actually listened to the tech insiders.  Maybe in a year or so this software might be cracked up to what they advertised it as. Until then I'll stick mostly with P3D.
