if you guys relax - ‘the Sim’ is working well enough for many of us - @ this stage of development,

just chill & it will work out 😉

Except it wasn't sold to us as early access. It was sold as a AAA title with an AAA+ price tag.

The issues with the third patch - released with a bug that crashes the sim if you use the VFR map oh and a 3 hour "Introductory" flight that you must complete in one sitting among many others - has me even more worried than before that Asobo are hopelessly out of their depth. We need Microsoft to start taking some serious oversight of this mess, after all it is their name on the (virtual) cover.

I must also say that I am very disappointed.

I am simming since msfs 95 and really tried to like this sim.

Now after the last update I hoped I could continuo my world tour with the Carenado Ovation but now again there is a heading bug and the plane just zigzags.

I really want this sim to work but it simply has to many bugs!

Genuine question, which might get lost in this thread but let's give it a go...

Is it possible to NOT update from v1.8 to 1.9? Or is the update automatically set off by opening the game?

It seems to be mandatory.

I cannot understand the angst in this topic,

No one is forcing you to read it. If the game (it's not a sim) is so good for you, why aren't you off playing it instead of trolling the forum?

As soon as you load the sim it forces you to update. This is the only sim that I've used in 20 years that forces updates up our throats.

ASOBO needs to consider giving users the option. Some users are NOT happy being beta testers, while other love to test.

It's probably the only silver lining on this thread.

Its mandatory you have to update.

I still want to know if I use LOD 200 that I have always used do I still see 200? as before?

Now please don't take this the wrong way its not a dig at you, just simply pointing something out. I hope that's clear as it's easy to read things the wrong way.

P3D v5 for you to buy the "license" that you "should" buy would cost you $200/£200 and that version was inop for the first 6 weeks needed 2HF. So I am not sure MSFS is AAA+ price tag myself. Also P3D needs £100's of $/£ spent on it to look anything but terrible.

Hi Ray, It's seemingly not a debate, but started as a rant. As long as we keep that peaceful, all should be good?

The OP described it as “venting” as in venting his spleen. He didn’t direct his comments to any individual but to an inanimate object - MFS. It is not a rant directed at any individual. The vast majority of replies have been fine but there are always a minority who speak without saying anything useful.

You continue to comment in an unhelpful way. If you persist there will be consequences.

No, it isn’t. Updates are applied automatically. The user does not have the option to stay on the existing build.

What has P3D got to do with what I posted?

In fact I never bought it as I wasn't prepared to bend the knee and tell the white lie when my only intended use was for "entertainment" purposes!

You obviously didn’t try the sim. I wish there was an option to ignore users with the phone.

I went out my way so you would not take offence, did not work did it!

Your were taking about MSFS being AAA+ price tag, was you not? well compared to one of its main competitors P3D I was pointing out its not a AAA+ price, its cheap as chips compaired to buying P3D and everything it need to be "OK" MSFS is a gift.

So no it's not a AAA+ price when it comes to flight sims.

Some of this surfaced in the Greek letter not allowed. Even in the RTM version, it was obvious to me that the autogen popping that was present in FSX was still extent in MSFS because unlike P3d, autogen loading was not batched. This is a performance issue and changes needed to be made. Whatever the impetus was, Asobo decided that performance on a wide range of hardware needed to be improved and this was their temporary solution.

And before anyone thinks that discussion of this issue is localized to AVSim, check out r/MicrosoftFlightSimulator and the official MSFS forums. People are generally unhappy with patch 3. I can tell you also that the new SDK release 0.6.0.0 also introduced new major bugs. I'm beginning to wonder whether the Asobo team working on MSFS has either been reduced in size or maybe different people are now assigned to maintaining the sim.
