So no it's not a AAA+ price when it comes to flight sims.

The trouble with your logic is that a lot of MSFS features don't work correctly and 3rd party add-ons are going to be needed to fix them, at least for people that care about immersion and realism. The net result will be a P3d-like actual price.

I did want to add something that has nothing to do with @NYxx's quote. A number of people have pre-ordered the HP Reverb G2 virtual reality headset in anticipation of VR being supported in MSFS. The headset is due for release next month, so my guess is that Asobo has been testing it with MSFS already. Patch 3 may be a harbinger of other changes that may be needed to support VR in DX11.

I went out my way so you would not take offence, did not work did it!

Your were taking about MSFS being AAA+ price tag, was you not? well compared to one of its main competitors P3D I was pointing out its not a AAA+ price, its cheap as chips compaired to buying P3D and everything it need to be "OK" MSFS is a gift.

So no it's not a AAA+ price when it comes to flight sims.

I humbly apologise!

Asobo decided that performance on a wide range of hardware needed to be improved and this was their temporary solution.

To be honest, given the fact I'm using MSFS on a 5 year old rust bucket, I'll take any performance improvement I can get.

I looked at the pictures that folks posted: yeah, sure, there is pop in, blurriness, but if it improves performance, then it doesn't bother me that much.

Ten THOUSAND votes for this!  I'd be content with this in operation. I would have chosen to stay with RTM MSFS...and sit in the bush watching the comments of adopters of the updates, as I do with XP11 updates....before dropping the hammer!

Seems like a sensible solution and mirrors XP and what MS does with Windows even (We have Fast Rings and Slow Rings) I think that would solve a lot of angst from users and allow a slower RTM development cycle.  I get there is a lot of bugs and a lot of people want things fixed right now but clearly the rapid patching process as nice as it is is not working entirely well enough.  I think some people would have been happy with the way things were and more slowly go through the patches while others with huge issues would be happy to test and properly submit their bug patches.  Seems like a win-win to me.

Yeah, same thing happened to me after the patch, shame ... anyone able to get above 2, seems to be capped at max 2 internally now?  I think I know the reason ... server streaming loads may have drastically increased when more of us started using this tweak.  When I was using this tweak in prior builds I got a "bandwidth limit" message that popped up mid flight so I paused the sim thinking I was having ISP bandwidth issues, test my ISP bandwidth and I was at 690Mbps so I know it wasn't my end so I'm guessing server side?

Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob, I have done some testing this morning (other side of the world) and I can actually prove that the LOD tweak is still working. With LOD at 2.00000 my FPS were 38~ , after changing the LOD to 9.00000 it dip to 34~. Also RAM usage jump from 13Gb at 2LOD to 23Gb at 9LOD

Also, I have taken couple of screenshots in LEBL25R looking north of barcelona and you can see Torre de Collserola with 9LOD, at 2LOD is not shown.

Looks i'm a lucky guy as i can't even download this "upgrade" after downloading crashed in the night and won't start anymore 😬

That happened to me after patch 1 and it was a debacle getting the sim reinstalled. I challenge you to get ANY technical support AT ALL from ANYONE at Microsoft when that happens. You will get transferred around from department to department with nobody taking responsibility for supporting the installation of their product. The patching mechanism they are using for this sim is outrageous. It's the worst I've ever seen in the industry in 25 years I've been working.

That would be a really nice thing if i have to re-install this "word-not-allowed" with my 8Mbit-DSL line.

Perhaps not the point of your comment, but the differences in the two screenshots are so negligible that I would have never noticed if you hadn't pointed it out to.

Yes...I'm venting...and will only do it once...but as for MSFS, now...so gutted with the last two patches...FORCED patches...I have lost total interest in this flight simulator...and the money?   Paid out to finally have learned my lesson with anything tagged Microsoft!   Expensive lesson...

You can always go back to the cartoonish looking p3d. Just give it some time. Things will be sorted out.

i see a different cartoon😀
