It's absolutely appalling how Asebo can get away with this garbage in 2020. For me, much better....especially the performance...no stutters with High settings and 200 LOD running on a GTX 1080. However, I can certainly understand the frustrations / disappointments for those who are experiencing problems with their PC / setup / controllers / IFR / specific planes that they fly. With that said, when XP10 was released...I had to shelve it for a year until some things were fixed. I flew FSX / P3D because they were functional for my setup and the best thing available at the time. When XP got better, I switched to XP and eventually dropped FSX and P3D. My advice to the frustrated audience is to shelve MSFS for now, and wait for it to get to a more stable place. Why aggravate yourself with the growing pains of a new sim? If it is broken...it will be....for a while. Asobo is obviously hard at work trying to make it better...and eventually...they will address the major issues that seem to spoil the fun for others. MSFS did not happen overnight...and neither will the fixes / enhancements. One good thing to note in the recent interview is how Asobo "changed their minds" about the depth of the G1000 etc. after getting feedback from both the community and the developers. So they are listening, learning, and adjusting to make the sim better for everyone. Edited October 1, 20205 yr by FlyBaby

I use no mods, not even scenery fixes or liveries, installed sim on a reset gaming laptop and now a brand new system... and yes I have the true bugs everyone is seeing, but no CTDs, install problems, stuttering, etc. A big part of this hobby is tinkering, but the most beneficial tinkering comes once the system has matured to a level where there were no more patches. Same applies here, be patient, all is well. To each their own, but many rushed to get REX’s weather app for instance, I just chuckled at yesterday’s announcement that Adobo will be improving the weather as a cornerstone of the sim and glad I’m being patient. I think we can learn from 3PDs that are themselves be patient, well some... This is a great point. Obviously people are going to modify and install all sorts of thing into Flight Sim, but there's value in patience. I fear many people are rushing out to download each and every mod, then a patch comes out and suddenly they have all sorts of problems. Our modding community is amazing, but you can't expect a mod written for one version of a sim to instantly work after a major patch. Mixing and matching a mod and a new patch is going to give you problems. If there's a mod you really want, that's fine, but be sure you remove it when a patch comes out and wait for the author to update. I personally have been very hesitant to install anything into the sim. So far I only have a few scenery enhancements and a couple of modded planes (which I remove anytime a patch comes out and wait for the authors to update, which they do in no time). We're not saying don't mod the sim, just don't go crazy yet. The forums are flooded with strange issues right after a major patch is released. Some of those are real bugs, but others are mods that the person probably forgot they downloaded and installed. There's two patches scheduled in October. Because of that, I'm barely touching my sim right now. I have the G36 mod (which is great) and pretty much everything else is vanilla. I seem to have a lot fewer issues than others do. That's not to say that there aren't bugs of course. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

October 1, 20205 yr I ordered the Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant hopefully I'll get around the end of the year. I'd also like to get my hands on a 3000 series GPU. I appreciate all of you guys working out the kinks... I'm deliberately on the sidelines until I get that hardware, kind of a baked in way to avoid all the frustrations for me.

October 1, 20205 yr Absolutely a better place! But I say it with a broad stroke in that we have really drawn attention to flight simulation. Heck I am seeing benchmarking done from popular Youtubers that includes MSFS! When have we ever seen that! MSFS is featured in magazines and not necessarily flight sim ones. Alot of chatter about it and the forth coming xbox release for it. 10 years ago , we though flight simmings future was on life support. Then we were able to have 5 major editions of P3D and a few from XP. And yet this tech from a visual standpoint has a whole lot of jaw dropping momments. Its really outstanding. Now the flip side is, yes there is issues. Of course theres going to be hundreds of issues. How can you not with a simulation of this magnitude? There was a ton of bug smashing in the Alpha and Beta, and it will continue for some time. Because as development goes , heck as many things go like medical, you fix one thing, but end up with 3-5 side effects or in this case other unwanted issues. Its the way it is, until you get it all ironed out. I cheer it on with great enthusiasm though and its great to see the devs have such a commitment even though they look exhausted from the whole ordeal. That said, I have some issues. Some are annoying. Had the sudden avionics disappearing. Found work around. Havnt had any CTDs at all until recently. Maybe its mods. Cleared out. Same thing. Could be a driver issue, or something else. Doesnt necessarily have to blame MSFS. The G1000 has many in op things that dont work well. The AP for many aircraft have a mind of their own. Thats ok for me right now. Providing it gets fixed. Im an advocate of, if the AP doesnt work, .... Fly the plane! Your the captain. These things are no doubt difficult to code. Now we can understand why the likes of PMDG and FSL and others take years to develop. And yes I so really really miss my complex aircraft. So I hope back into P3D, and fly the NGXu or FSLA320, ah the glory, and then you look around and it feels like I went back in time to 2010 with some exceptions providing you pay through the nose for some extra payware scenery. And thats just spots, not covering the entire world. So temper your frustrations and remember the history of this great hobby. It takes a long long time for things to mature. But they will be worth it in the end. I know with the Alpha, I decided to wipe win10 for fresh install. That cleared up a few issues for me. Only to have some new ones pop up though. Few more versions later, they were fixed. The bottom line is, we have choices. If you dont like the current state of affairs and cant put aside the differences, then fly another platform or go do something else. Dont let it get to you. Not worth it. In the meantime, the two steps forward 1-2 steps back will eventually be more forward momentum. We are still very early from launch. So I would perhaps suggest that you might reconsider that stance.

I am wondering and/or pondering, about just how many simmers will even look at the default aircraft after the 3PDs get stuck in. Two factors here though ... first is that this may take some time due to SDK restraints at the moment and secondly this does not take away any pressure on the devs to fix what they have supplied with the default aircraft. This, I believe will be done and indeed, for some, if not most of the silent majority, most of the avionics issues have already been done, particularly with the GA aircraft. What is also an unknown factor is how many idiots like me have forgotten to upgrade a mod following the updates .... had a whinge and then found out that it is a self inflicted injury. My hand is up, although I asked questions, prior to a submission to ZenDesk, rather than whinge as a first response. AGAIN, the community fixed my problem and very swiftly. I do not understand why this course of action is not followed more frequently as it certainly appears to alleviate a lot of frustration. The community, if treated politely and respectfully is a huge asset. This is not to say, however, that there is not a legitimate cause for concern out there. I see the biggest difficulty, as the problems are so diverse for some with nothing for others, and finding the common denominator is going to be extremely difficult. Progress, however, is being made and for the majority of us it augers well for a more than excellent (excellenter???) base platform. To address CTDs, I have to admit that my only CTD has been using the taskbar for VFR maps and a key mapping fixed that for me. This too, is being addressed. For mine, We are far advanced from the initial release version and have definitely NOT gone backwards. (a couple of sidesteps maybe LOL) Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. October 2, 20205 yr For me personally it is much worse now because of random CTDs that never happened until the latest patch. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to it. I will be in the middle of a flight, then all of a sudden I am looking at my desktop. Sometimes it happens in the first 5 minutes, sometimes an hour in, but I can rarely complete a flight. Prior to 1.9.3.0 I was a huge cheerleader for the sim and never had a single CTD. Sure there were some bugs, but I found workarounds and was enjoying flying every day. I understand where the frustration comes from. I paid $120 for a product I can't currently use without it crashing. I have an i7-8700K with 32GB of RAM and a RTX 2070 Super. I haven't overclocked anything. Running on the default High settings with no mods.
October 2, 20205 yr Same here, dunno why but all's been fine despite the 3rd patch. Someone mentioned it helps to delete the rolling cache and build a new one for both patch 2 and 3 and have had no troubles.
