October 2, 20205 yr What i don't understand: they have this neat "Autoupdate"-Feature in MFS, why the hell won't they use it for small hotfixes? Thats just idotic. They can release small fixes daily if they want. System: i9 [email protected] - 32 GB RAM - Aorus 1080ti --- Sim/Addons: P3D v5 + ProSim737
October 2, 20205 yr You might try deleting and rebuilding the rolling cache. After Patch 2 I did this at someone's behest and LOD/IQ was restored. I did the same thing preemptively after Patch 3, and I'm not seeing any LOD problems nor trees popping up. Edit: I do see some blocks of trees and other objects appearing in the distance but it's subtle. October 2, 20205 yr No issues with autogen popping or extremely short building draw distance here. Before installing patch 3, I deleted my rolling cache, and rebuilt it after installing the patch. I just completed an ILS 28L approach at KPIT, which brings the aircraft right over Pittsburgh, and the autogen buildings of the city were present while still quite a ways east. All airport buildings were fully formed at HALIN waypoint on the approach, which is 10 miles from the runway threshold. I run the LOD slider at 170, with most graphics settings on ultra. For some reason, they're stuck on this idea that each patch has to include not just the simulator code that's relatively small, but also updates to scenery objects like airports, and updates to aircraft that might include large graphics files. These are big all-in-one patches. They don't seem to have a mechanism for breaking out just the sim code to fix something like the VFR map crash. Unless that changes, we'll have to get used to waiting 2 weeks minimum to see a fix for something broken in the last patch. Arent we already used to it with all the other sims? 😄 Cant remember exactly, but wasnt FSX SP2 released years and years after the RTM version? We are on SP3, more or less 2 month post release, thats pretty good. Edited October 2, 20205 yr by leprechaunlive

Now trees and buildings visible almost to the horizon! Very happy. If only the Caravan autopilot had such an easy fix. Edit: and I didn't do any cache rebuild, left it off. Well, not all of the other sims. X-Plane can do smaller patches for the core sim that don't update all the Gateway airports or default aircraft models. X-Plane also avoids this drama by having an opt-in Beta branch. You can try it, or revert to the last official release if it has too many bugs. I have played several games on Steam that offer a separate Beta branch that you can back out of, like that. It's not rocket science. I don't know why Microsoft isn't using this method. This is interesting, since I have the cache turned off and can't see any issues like others are reporting. If true, it's something that needs to be addressed by Asobo. October 3, 20205 yr I don't think there is another sub forum here in AVSim that sees this kind of "thread-jacking" as MSFS. Almost every thread turns in to a heated discussion playground or is diverted to other matters and original point gets utterly lost. What ever happened to staying on topic and organizing subjects to a thread. I find it increasingly difficult to browse through a topic that interests me because it is diluted with so much irrelevance. Edited October 3, 20205 yr by Evros
