Honeycomb Yoke

OK Thanks to all for the help and replies. I did another flight last night and the drift was negligible. Maybe a slight wind effect at 4000ft. I am flying the C152X by hand, not AP.

Agree with all that this is an awesome yoke. For some reason the yaw switches on the right arm of the yoke do not work (left elevator up down does work) but not too worried.

Using  Numlock zero and Numlock enter on the keyboard for now. Have the Honeycomb throttle control on pre-order and maybe Honeycomb with produce rudders next year.

'yaw switches on the right arm of the yoke do not work'. These are for aileron trim. The C152, does not have this feature so I wouldn't  expect a response from these switches when flying airplanes without this.

Romeo_Tango This makes no sense to me.

The Honeycomb yoke in FS2020 set up page clearly states...

Rubber Trim Left = Buttons 9 + 11

Rudder Trim Right = Buttons 10 + 12

On the Right Hand Yoke Grip.

So are you saying the C152X does not have Rudder Trim ??

The C152 is a basic training aircraft with a single engine mounted on the longitudinal axis. It has a bendy tab mounted on the rudder that you can tweak by hand but it doesn't have a rudder trim that is adjustable in flight. Mostly rudder trim is found on twins, to compensate for extreme asynchronous operation in the event of an engine failure.

Shouldn't this bug have been fixed already? it only works some time for me, but mostly not, so I wonder if there are any others who have the same experience? I have set my mouse to scroll 1 row at a time but it does not seem to make any difference.

Yes, I also have the issue.  I am running a honeycomb and have read that the bound keys for lights and magnetos are running interference with the sim.  You would think it would be resolved by now as it is a pretty widely reported bug.

I am just living with it, as unbinding  those controls is a bigger step back for me.

What's the consensus on the honeycomb yoke?  I'm using Saitek's and it's pretty clunky but not sure I'm ready to buy a really high end yoke.

Unbelievably good. When I bought it I thought it would be better than my Saitek but man... the springs are so strong when you are pulling hard you really feel like you’re pulling cables. SO happy I bought it. Night and day from the Saitek, which was a great yoke.

I was keen on it when I first saw a pre-production model a couple of years ago. Since then Fulcrum have shown a 3D printed model at Cosford 2018 and a fully working one in 2019.

That is the one I’m going to buy and have pre-ordered it. Due to arrive in a few weeks.

With all respect to Honeycomb I wouldn’t describe the Alpha One as high end. Better than the Saitek for sure but nowhere near as good as the Fulcrum.

Yes, it’s more expensive but nowhere near the price of the Yoko. Being priced in GBP helps US and Euro customers given the state of the Pound Sterling.

Are you using the standard Saitek or the Cessna ? The Cessna is by all accounts OK for a low end Yoke but the Standard Saitek and the CH are pretty awful, basically toys.

High end is things like the Yoko Brunner Force Feedback that comes in at $US4000 or so with pedals or maybe the Yoko Yoke at more like $US1000  😄

The Honeycomb is not exactly "high end" it is midrange like the slightly dearer Fulcrum.

If you are looking at something a step up from Saitek without spending the eye watering money for a Yoko or Brunner there are two serious options in that price range:

- Honeycomb search YouTube for reviews

- Fulcrum    https://www.fulcrumsim.com/

Both are vastly better than the Saitek.  The Honeycomb is cheaper than a Fulcrum by about a third, has less yoke travel and a more "plasticky" feel, but has more "features" built in.  The Fulcrum is more professional, a third more expensive, 8" yoke travel but very basic in terms of extra switches and features.

The Honeycomb has been out of stock but are becoming available again recently. The Fulcrum is a new product only just starting to ship but they are taking pre-orders..

Thanks both of you I will check them out closer.  With MSFS here I feel quite a bit better about buying something much better than what I have now.   It will be nice to see how you like its performance Ray.  Wwat are you using now?

Very good, thanks.  I'm using the Saitek, but prior to that was using the Cessna yoke which died eventually.  I don't think they make they anymore do they?  I also bought the Cessna Trim Wheel.  It wasn't really too useful in P3D, but I tell you it makes a fantasic tiller control for the NGXu.  Huge range and can dial in perfect sensitivity, so I use it for that only now.

Noel, I’m using a 13 year-old Saitek! 😬 In fairness there are no spikes on the yoke but trying to hand fly an aircraft like Concorde is blinkin’ hard work.

I think the Fulcrum is a good balance between quality and price. Hall-effect sensors mean it’s extremely precise. Yes, not as many buttons as the Honeycomb but I have plenty unused on my Logitech throttle quadrants. The Fulcrum has one or two fewer than the Saitek so it’s not too bad.

And remember, a decent yoke will last far longer than a graphics card! 😁

Mine arrived DOA. Wouldn't even turn on. They are supposedly making production changes for the flimsy connectors.

I'm thinking about this Fulcrum too Ray.  To deal w/ the poor behavior of my Saitek I control all planes w/ a rocker switch on the Saitek's TQ assigned to incremental trim changes.  I can't imagine being able to do this with this grade of yoke so yes that's the best I've been able to do.
